what is the best way to get rid of grease after clipping, first time my horse has had full clip and his bum is really greasey as the hair was so thick and clippers wouldnt go through it need to degrease him and go over it again

I clip a number of horses for payment throughout the season and always advise my clients to use a bucket of fairly warm water, cup full of Hibi Scrub and an old towel - works wonders to get off the grease and also helps with any nicks that may have occured or if I've run over an old scab etc that might have opened slightly.

Hot cloth him. I don't use hibi scrub on mine as it can be very drying. Have a bucket of hot water (as hot as you can handle), put a dribble of oil and vinegar in (I also put a couple of drops of lavender oil in to recreate a posh wash down!), then put a flannel in and wring right out, then rub over horse. Repeat! You will be shocked how grubby the water gets! Will get little bits of cut hair and grease off the coat and leave a nice shine. People seem to get their own concoctions, many swear by the shine detol gives!
