After last winter - any thoughts on what this year will be like ?

Nahh, I think it was a one off. We've not had a winter like that for years.

The people who have got the weather predicaton right since 2008 say different :)
They predicted 2009 wash out summer, the big freeze, the warm spring and our wet summer 2010.....they say Big freeze once again which is going to last longer!:p:) YIPEEEEE

it was fun till i got stuck on my backside..

I'm actually quite excited about the thought of more snow. But only because my horses are at a really good livery yard so get looked after regardless.

Why do i keep coming back to this thread, looking at photos of snow and getting myself more depressed. The sun is shining outside, and i'm inside cleaning and job hunting... this is not what i need to be doing to myself! Can't even ride in the sun because all the mud has pulled the boys shoes off after 3 weeks.

I think i need to move to spain... or maybe south italy?

Cannot wait for the mornings when its really really cold! hacks when everything twinkles wit frost... I love it. for some reason its so much more rewarding looking after them in the cold weather knowing that they're all snuggled and warm with plenty to eat... even more so this year as i'm splashing out on lots of very much needed new rugs!

It's going to be a hard one. I think. All the hedgerows round here appear dusky crimson because there are so many hawthorn berries. Our honeysuckle and virginia creeper have dropped their leaves, the TB and the cob, both fine coated, have moulted and are wearing grown-up winter coats, and the Dartmoor is metamorphing into a hearthrug. Go on, someone, cheer me up....

This winter will actually be easier for us as we have just moved to a house with land, however we have 2 horses and a pony and only 2 stables. so either we try and get a little makeshift stable which is what we are trying to do, or she winters out. she is a hardy exmoor so should be ok.
I was looking at all the thousands of bright red berries on the hawthorn, im sure i didn't even see any last year, oh dear! all mine have fluffy coats already!
