Hi, I'm not sure I've done these photos right (damn photo bucket ha ha). Anyway, I'm looking at taking my, 3 in June, cob to a local show. we went to one last year and I really enjoyed it. a lady told me to put him in a white slip, which I now know was completely wrong. I have a plain cavesson and he is being bitted at the moment so I hope to have him in his bridle for next time. The judge mentioned Vaseline and trimming up?? Also, I know I'm wearing black and to me, it doesn't look right next to lad. Any other ideas on what I could wear? The 3 photos are of us at last years local show, what he looks like at the moment, and a show jacket I really liked and would love to wear it but I don't know what to put with it? I do have a lilac tie as well. Any help is greatly received :D

actualy for welsh cobs and traditional cobs a white halter is perfectly correct.

Tweed jacket, dark trousers, smart shirt and tie. Hair in a bun and then a beagler for inhand showing.

That jacket is smart, you should wear a hat and gloves for safety reasons, a pair of brown or beige trousers, usually you try and wear a pair to contrast with the horses legs but yours has a dark one and a white one in front so it is less clear what would be best but I would not wear black, shirt, cream, pale blue or similar and tie in any colour that you like really.

I would just trim any tufts that stick out of his ears and any long beard, not whiskers, from under his chin and show him as a traditional/ native, a wipe of oil round his muzzle and eyes, on his knees and hocks will enhance his features, vaseline gets messy and does not give a good finish.

Thank you both so much, wasn't expecting such quick replies :D I've heard of burgundy pants going with bays???? Or would that be a bit too much? Maybe a brown or dark beige? Can't wait :D and the oil just a little bit to add some shine?

I like to wear dark green trousers with mine - they have dark legs but i'm crap at keeping light trousers clean on the day! So i quite like dark burgundy and dark green trousers too. In fact, even a nice pair of brown trousers would look nice with most tweeds :)

I don't think he is a Welsh Cob though - is he? Apologies if I'm wrong!

Just remember that when you do oil up the muzzle etc that it burns like a mother in the sun, so be very careful.

Lol no he's not a welsh but I'm guessing there's some in there going off his face. His dad was a compact coloured traditional and his mum was a beast of a cob. Thanks I'll have a look for some with spf in.
