Sady I must say that Bob is continuing to do his "most sane TB to ever exist" act, and is behaving impecably despite 2 weeks of not being ridden
smile.gif
He didnt even spook when being ridden under floodlights tonight, which normally makes him shoot across the arena like a maniac

Sorry

My three are a bit wild as not much turnout either. Calmer added to feeds, lunging if necesary before attempting to get on and not going out onto our 60mph main road until theyve stopped leaping around!! Roll on summer

I am getting on mine tomorrow for the first time in 10 days...hope to report back in one piece! We have decided to go for a "bracing hunt hack", which means we will stonkingly trot (yes, I trot on the road
wink.gif
) for about a mile, then have a canter along the railway line (about a mile) then stonkingly trot for 2 miles (stop cringing those that hate trotting on the road) and walk a mile home.

My only blues was (after removing his extra rug last night) he has still some how managed to sweat up immensly..

Oh and he nearly took ma head of this morning when i let him loose in the school.. And lost a silicone pad outta his shoe.

We had a week of minus 15 and minus 8 during the day!
I think my lot went into hybernation.
Today was first day above zero and I have seen every corner of the indoor school, CLOSE-UP!!!!!!!

Yep.... as soon as the weather got warmer on Sunday mine has been a nutter!!! Unfortunatley Sunday was our first competiton in 8 months and she was a maniac!!! And thought I may have tierd her out on Monday (NO CHANCE!) and today showjumping lesson she was still full of beans..... 2 massive bucks and i was clinging on her neck praying she didnt do another one as I was heading for the floor......

The spooky pony was offering halt-to-sideways-racing-gallop transitions today instead of the walk-to-canter ones I was asking for, but seems otherwise sane.

Hey,Weezy, wanna come and 'stonkingly' trot on the roads with my lot?
(I can make a mean gluewein!)

Would love to

Actually I really WOULD love to come visit at some point, nothing like inviting oneself hey! We could meet up with TE and have a piss up - woohooo!

Ugh - weather is a nightmare. Atleast have been able to ride last couple of days but horses are still feeling underworked and far too well.

I posted sunday evening about Blue behaving like an absolute tit and giving me whiplash on Sunday.....scroll back a page or so if you fancy a laugh!!! Still suffering, taking loads of painkiller and can't move my head hardly at all. I blame the weather for the whole thing!!!

Lol one of mine sooo nearly had me on the floor on friday! Decided that she needed sitting on and the plan was to do just gentle walk and trot work (track in school was ok, rest of it wasn't
tongue.gif
) Got on pranched half way round the school, I took a fairly decent contact and got 3 little rears, put more leg on, asked it to trot and got 6 very nice big bucks pretty much on the spot
tongue.gif
I can sit most things but she nearly had me then!! So lunged her for 15 mins and then got back on!!

Can't help with the indoor school
crazy.gif
.

The best I can do is that instead of hacking round a track to the bottom of the all-weather gallops and then cantering up, then repeating 4-5 times we've had to hack canter DOWN the all weather then turn round 180 degrees and work them up it. By the time the first couple of horses have turned round and disappeared at speed the back few are left facing the wrong way. The sudden spinning round and setting off are pretty much always punctuated with a buck and by the time they've done it 3 or 4 times the anticipation is immense.....

Thanks - been racking my brains as to why horse has turned into a complete twit the last few days. Did such a big spook past the mounting block (gremlins obviously living under it) and trotted into the wall of the indoor school at one point looking over the door (I WAS steering!). Spooked at everything possible, and even making up things to spook at in her head! Glad its not just me!

My horse definatly thinks spring has sprung. She is out of her tree. But then she is also like that in summer, autumn, winter.....

I haven't ridden since Boxing Day
shocked.gif
We've been on holiday (-10 to -20 during the day
grin.gif
)...the horses have been lunged a couple of times by the yard and I lunged them both yesterday and surprisingly Bo seemed very 'sane'...almost lazy. Trike had some fun though so if i'm feeling up to it i'm going to hop on him for a hack later this afternoon. OH has the pleasure of a lesson on Bo tonight and she's not fully recovered from the lurgy yet either so hopefully he'll be good for her lol!

Our arena has been fine for the whole time it's been sub-zero, but with hunting being cancelled some of the boys have got a bit full of themselves, and that's even with having halved the amount of feed they get! So, yesterday I came off not once, but TWICE.
blush.gif
Beat that! And it was off the same horse - 5yo with a lot of "character".
tongue.gif
Ok, so once he fell in a dyke instead of jumping it, but the second time was a proper tantrum when we were hacking home: it involved threatening to go into the ditch or hedge as I insisted he walked in a straight line, so he responded by spinning violently in both directions, but it was when he changed direction I came off (it was on the road, but I landed on a soft bit ie. my bum!)

Hope that makes you feel better sj_mummy.
wink.gif

Horse feels that putting all weight on the front end is far better. Put your leg on gentley anywhere and the bloody thing bucks like a bugger.
He's trying my patience!!!
Its not only riding the damn thing either. Went to catch up the 3 last night only to find them ploughing around the field including the 29 year old.
I was dragged in and covered in MUD!
mad.gif

I've managed 2 rides in the last 3 weeks, one of sideways canter on the spot down the road, and a schooling session in walk because it was still frozen that consisted mainly of flash's attempts at 'airs above the ground' lol! Hoping to get back on tomorrow, and hoping to be here in 1 piece to tell the tale on Friday! he's usually so sane, but he's a pest at the mo!

I am in one piece - wasn't the ride I wanted as woke to freezing fog and -2
mad.gif
So went round the farm tracks at a stonking walk, asked for trot, got canter, so settled for in-hand canter (sitting firmly on back for the first time ever out hacking her) and came away unscathed - sorry for lack of horror story!

Come on over Weezy, I need to go horse shopping soon anyway so you can help
wink.gif
.

sj_mummy - Been just the same down here, and all the roads had ice on too, so the boys had only seen the indoor for 10 days, and no turnout which they're used to. Took them to the woods today and William was a terror! Finally got to a track he was adamant was ok to canter on and it was a proper flashback to when I rode the pointers
shocked.gif
! He tucked his nose in and pulled like a good 'un, god my calves were hurting!

Baydale - v impressed with 2 falls! Have you got a tumbler's club pot? If you haven't - get one
wink.gif
. What surface have you got out of interest that it didn't freeze?

well I took my 6 year old warmblood out for his first walk hack today after his 3 month winter holidays and did think that I might die but he was an angel... now plan to clip him on friday so might be a different story after that LOL

Mine has been fine today and yesterday but the first mild day after the cold snap OMG, very very fresh! She spent half the session suspended in mid air and shooting off left right and center with me clinging on like a limpet. She makes me laugh when shes like it though so the fact I was in hysterics didnt help. Once I had got myself under control I had to canter her round for half an hour before she was settled.
Leading her to the field has been interesting too, akin to flying a kite...but a very big, hairy, strong one!

I'm getting on mine tomorrow morning after a break of about 10 days, I'm not looking forward to it but it has to be done!
I'm not expecting any wonderful work, will prob just manage a couple of laps of the school in walk (hopefully) then I shall trot and canter her until she is tired, then hopefully I will get some sense out of her on Sat!
Can't hack, road is too busy and she will not be safe!

T_E yes, we've got a Tumblers Club but I think the one hacking home should be disallowed.
wink.gif
Anyway, I need the money for my visit to the chiropractor first thing in the morning so I can be fit for hunting later.

The arena is a McArdle waxed one, can't remember what they call it, it's the same as at Keysoe. It was used at Your Horse Live two years ago, hence we got it secondhand after it had only had a week's use.
