To be appreceated. :D

I know working with horses gets bad press most of the time. I've been doing it since leaving school and have afew tails to tell that would put anyone off working in the equine industry. But for some reason it's all I ever want to do. Yes the pays not great but I make enough to scrape by and i'm doing a job I love and at the moment i'm in the most beautiful place on earth (or so I think anyway ;) :D )
After years of working on yards and being treated like dirt I decided to go freelance afew years ago. I choose who I want to work for and thought I was working for some nice people.
This week has realy proved to me going freelance was the best thing I ever did.
I did a post yesterday about walking for several hours to tend to some ponies I look after in the next village. Well the owner of those ponies has paid me extra for all the effort I've gone to this week and today another owner text me to say not to worry about riding her horse today due to the snow and ice but next week she is putting my money up as she is so greatful for everything I do for her :) She sent me a lovely text and it realy warmed my heart on this cold day.
Sorry for the pointless post just wanted to share. I've always loved working with horses but I don't think i've ever been happyer in my work than I am now. I know the equine industry isn't great most of the time but I feel all that rubbish I went through was worth it to get to where I am today. :)

awww, how lovely :)

I don't know why people don't show their appreciation to people that work with horses more. When I find someone that does a good job I always make a point of letting them know I appreciate them, otherwise I think it must be really soul destroying.

I need to find people like this!! Have worked in the industry fir over fifteen years and feel really downtrodden at present :-(

That's great. I work for myself (but not with horses) and one of the reasons I went self-employed was to be able to work for "nice" people.
Good for you - you deserve it after the extra efforts you have made to look after your customers' horses!

Good stuff, pleased for you. It is nice to be appreciated. I am currently working my notice at a real sh**ty company in order to be self employed again...cannot wait!

Thanks guys.
Working with horses is hard work esp at this time of year so it realy does mean alot when the owners say thankyou. I feel lucky to be working for the people I do they are all so nice and have lovely horses to wich is always a bonus ;) :D
