I have a yearling colt who was shown last year. I want to show him this year too, but do i plait him or just leave him?

He was plaited last year as foal and got told off from judges, but I thought it was part of the turnout!!!!

Also should he be bitted for showing too?

He has been bitted already as he's strong.

the mother is in the picture and father pure arab. He's going to 16hh + and coloured. I was planning hunter/hack, pb arab and coloured classes with him.

im no expert but i too would of thought he should be plaited

are you keeping him entire?

bitted in hand bridle.....
I think your class choices sound ok.......

Plaiting question, I am not sure, most of the youngstock I see are unplaited until they are about 2yo then they are plaited...... but I am not sure tbh!

Sorry

I worked for Rawdings for a season and even the older foals were plaited by HOYS time for hunter classes. If he's a bit weak in the neck you might need to do some big plaits in the middle to give the impression of a topline!
The better the turnout and the better trained he is the more he will stand out.
