I'm on the lookout to buy one but suspect that the good , genuine ,fairly healthy ones go by word of mouth

so , pretty please , if anyone knows of a true advanced schoolmaster maybe around 15 years old whose owners want a very good new home for him/her i'd really appreciate the tip off

I am selling an ex intermediate event horse, his dressage is excellent, no BD points as always evented, bay 16.1 Selle Francais, rising 14. He has competed unaff elementery but works above that, does most lateral stuff changes etc. Would be be good enough?

i'm looking for a true advanced schoolmaster , ideally schooled to at least psg , my boy is at elem & schooling towards medium so with my instructor have decided that we need a very definate step up & pref one with comp experience as i would ideally like to compete a bit

i shall google paul hayler/horse

ps i'm in the north but will travel

Horses like you describe (true advanced schoolmasters, sound, healthy and sane) are worth their weight in gold, and their price usually reflects that! Good luck though. Hope you find one!

I've seen the one Paul Hayler's selling and it is lovely - apparently had the price dropped now as well. His advert should be on his website.

My mare would have been perfect for you, when we were selling her a couple of years ago. Afraid she is now home and not going anywhere.
May however know of a very good one, has EUropeaned etc, will ask and get bak to u.

Look on the Assoulines' website... they have two advanced schoolmasters advertised... don't suppose they'll be cheap though.

Who do you train with?

Getting him or her to put the word out might well be your best option. I found mine through my trainer and hes a schoolmaster in the truest sense. Mines competed at PSG before his rider decided he'd not go GP and he came to me as a schoolmaster. He cost us a small fortune but hes absolutely worth his weight in gold. As you said, most of them never go up for public adervtisement and purely go through word of mouth. If you can get the word out through a good trainer about what you're looking for, you might just find something

My ex trainer put two of her GP horses out on loan to YRs (she wouldnt ever sell though) and certainly the another of the well known GP riders close to her had two of their GP horses out on loan also.
