why do some people even have horses?!?!

tonight it took me half an hour to get my boy in from the field, thanks to the moron at my yard who keeps leaving her youngster to be everyone elses problem! he kept barging at the gate, and fox kept going for him because when fox sees mum, fox knows hes getting dinner. it was a total nightmare, they were the last 2 out so it was my "responsibility" to bring the last one in. i ended up running about like a fool because the little brat barged right over the gate and me and wouldnt catch! lucky fox knew his dinner was waiting so went straight to his stable.

she keeps leaving him for up to 3 days at a time, manky stable, no hay, nothing. then comes up and gives him about 5 haynets and leaves him for another few days again. then complains when he gets the skits! and when he has no manners. it wouldnt be half as bad if the pony knew how to behave, but because she lets him totally take the piss out of her, he thinks he can do it with everyone else.

AGHHHH such a stressful night! -Rant over.

Please inform WHW or RSPCA or Redwings about this. They will step in and so something. Leavinga horse without food like that is totally unacceptable.

is it not a bit drastic though? the horse isnt in bad condition, if anything hes a little TOO conditioned. im just annoyed at her not bothering her arse and just leaving him for everyone else to deal with.

also, a girl i know contacted the sspca before and they said as long as the horse has water and some food theres nothing they can do.

I would point blank refuse to deal with someone elses horses that had manners as bad as that.
I used to have a horse that was really bad tempered, and I said under no circumstances was anyone but me to bring him in even if hes last... he'll have to wait.

I would say this is an issue you need to get the YO to step in with, as they are responsible for horses on their yard.

I would tell the YO that you don't feel comfortable handling a this Bargy horse. If YO has to see to it I'm sure he/she will only do it for do long.

unfortunately its one of our yard rules, if your horse and one other is last out you have to bring that other horse in as none of the horses are to be left out alone. once YO gets her test results back next week i will take it up with her if she is up to it. its a difficult time right now and with liveries disappearing to other yards theres even less people around to help. rubbish situation.

i just dont understand why the pony's owner doesnt just ask any of us to help her out rather than leave him like this, its a total inconvenience.

Hmmm, Don't agree with that solution.

I'd rather one left out alone than left in alone for a few days straight with no food/mucking out. You may find more work that way.

Personally, sod the rule on turning in/out another persons horse. If they kick up a fuss, tell them that you fear for your safety and are not putting yourself in a dangerous position. Your horse will be in at X time each night, it's up to the owner what they arrange around that.

its only because years ago a horse was left out alone and threw itself over the gate, done itself in bigtime. wouldnt be any work for me, its not my horse to care for (i know that sound like a bad attitude, but we figure she'll be less inclined to come up if she knows we're all doing her work for her). I said to the YO about the horse being a danger, another horse was running loose tonight because its owner was too busy trying to stop problem pony running over her aswell.

not sure what else the YO said to demon ponies owner, just know she said that unless she's up to bring the pony in it wont be going out. tbh doubt it makes a difference cos even when the horses are in she doesnt come up anyway.

I know it's not your problem - and I certainly wouldn't be looking after it in your place- but keep an eye on feeding and it it hits over a day without feed please report as an urgent case!

I understand your problem OP i think you should talk to the owner and maybe advise very stongly that she either gets rid of her pony (to someone who really want's one) or you will charge her per day for your time .

You are being far too nice and thats why they get away with it. Tell them you have not got MUG across your head. Her horse her problem, tell her never to get another as she is not worthy.

Tell her to stick an advert up. If YO is unwell look for another yard. Go somewhere else, what a nerve.

hopefully YO has had a good word with her, i very rarely see the girl to bloody say anything myself. im also not very good at confontation.. :o

moving isnt an option for me, my boys happy where he is, and ive been at the yard for nearly 8 years now and im good friends with the YO.

In situations like this, bring the youngster in first, then your horse.

Also, unwell or not, the YO must be informed of what is going on with this horse. Failing that please contact the WHW.

that was my intention if the pony hadnt barged right by fox and hit me with the gate, its a nightmare.

the YO has been informed of whats going on and told me she will "see to it"
