Aggressive horse

My first thought was, ulcers.

When you say grumpy, what exactly does he do? Is he stabled at lot or does he get plenty of tunout and what sort of feed does he get?

Dont worry it must be something in the air -mine is exactly the same turned from a lamb to a lion overnight! Barging, biting etc hoping it doesnt last too long!:)

Funny my horse has been vile this week too ,hes usually grumpy but took a chunk out of my arm while the farrier was shoeing him and then was bucking like a fruit loop on the road-defo agree theres something in the air !!!

Yeah one of mine headbutted my cheekbone a few days ago in a huff! Was cuddling his head to say goodnight and he walloped me! Thought it was an accident but not too sure now as he's been very mouthy this week and bargy! He's a dominant horse but gone back to what he was like when I first got him!!

He actualy scared mr only charging at me so I walked off the field into the carral where shelter is all horses came running on and I walked up to him put head collor on and put him in sound as a pound then my friend just text me and he gone for her over door :((( x

He couldn't have hurt his back could he? My very grumpy mare really went for me a couple of years ago, very scary, but a novice sharer had given her a sore back.

My mare has been especially grumpy this week too! I wondered if it was because the grass was slowing down with the colder nights? She's a real foody so if anythings going to make her grumpy its less food :) I noticed she wasn't grazing as quickly as usual in the field today, more moping around and looking glum. Maybe its just something to do with the weather getting colder thats put them all in a bad mood :)

Yes, my money would be on this with ulcers as a close second favourite.

This is what I thought too. My lad was flat out dangerous when we got him. He would lunge at people, rear in hand and under saddle, kick and bite if he could. We found out he had been badly abused so worked with him and he did improve but was still grumpy. Spoke to vet who said stomach issues, tried him on Coligone and it worked! He is a different horse, still has his tetchy days and will never be a novice horse or a totally reliable one but he is happy and painfree, which makes a whole lot of difference.

If it is not stomach could be other pain or weather. Hope he continues to be ok, but I would get it checked out thoroughly.

my pony was very aggressive at one place, he would try and attack you over the door and if you went in the field he would charge at us then spin and kick out. one day i went to the yard and found another liveries dogs and kids teasing him over the stable door and apparently he was being teased in the field as well by them. not saying that's what happened to yours.
