**Takes deep breathe**

Well were should I start, two weeks ago I part exchanged my ex-racer for a HW Cob. Now he was perfect, a real plod along, soft and sweet natured. I rode him, he was perfection. So we did the deal. Now he has been round other horses/ponies for the majority of his life, both mare's and gelding's too.

For the past week now, he has been chasing my mare away, from the other horse's and her dinner, he ushers her round the field, like he's her VERY close bodyguard!! His ears go flat back, he kicks, squeals and bucks, at Faith and the others through the fence. This has only started happening for the last few days/week.

Today kinda took the biscuit, when he chased Faith off and she accidently headbutted my OH's chest. **Can still hear the moaning**

I'm just curious as to what could be possibley causing this??? His diet is the same as before. Is it because Faith is in season?? or could the weather be effecting him like it does with people?? (Numpty question and thing to ask)

I would just like to know that this will calm down soon, so they dont cause each other harm or someone harm.
The kind-of up side to this terrible attitude is that Faith has become more loving.

Any experience or advice would be gratefully accepted!!!

Devils chocolate cake and shot of voddy for people who got this far!!

If Faith has come into season, that could be the reason why he's doing the bodyguard bit. I'd monitor him abit more and jot down what you see and if it only happens when she comes into season have a word with your vet.:):):)

I'd put money on it being because Faith is in season - try separating them while she is, and I bet he'll go back to being his normal sunny self!

In addition to the above, 2 weeks isn't very long. When I bring a new horse in they often take longer than that to sort themselves out. It might well be because she is in season, but they might well also settle better given more time. Hope he starts being a bit more gentlemanly soon!
