Has anyone rehabbed a horse from a stifle injury using primarily physio rather than meds/surgery? What modalities and exercises did you use?

What exactly has the horse done? How long ago? How sound and have you had itnoroperly diagnosed? Yes we have rehabbed stifle injuries from fractures, wounds and ligament damage?

Ah, not a horse. 
Hence my vague question.
A dog, actually. I know what the protocol is for dogs and we're having okay luck with rehab thus far, but I've never worked personally with a horse with a stifle problem other than OCD so just making sure I'm not missing something that could have a cross-species application.
