Why oh why do horse events have to have crappy disgusting burger vans?! Please someone tell me?!

The only time there is vaguelly nice food offered it's at the higher class shows! Am fed up with gross unhealthy rubbish. I dont even buy from the vans anymore but I do occassionally go for some coffee or something and even that is disgusting.

Do people actually like these vans? I think someone like Subway should start up mobile catering!

Hey, leave the unhealthy rubbish burger vans alone.
Only time I get to eat crap is when i go to events with friends and leave the better half at home.

I hear Gordon Ramsey is going to start taking vans to shows so if your horse goes crap........... at least you will get a decent burger

I find that even if we are organised and take food the lure of the bacon butties gets us! But yes sometimes they are gross, and my other gripe is the silly prices they charge.

We got charged £1 last week for 1 tiny cup of coffee. He put in one teaspoon of coffee granules and some hot water. They must make SOME profit from a jar of basic coffee granules!

It's part of the fun.......can you get a double clear/xc country clear/good dressage score & avoid food poisoning all on the same day?

Useful, practical tip however - only go to shows in the north of the country, preferably the NE!
(Sorry southerners but this is true - horse events, dog shows, whatever, the food is always better 'oop north'!)

I used to go regularly to dressage at Preston Farm in Kent and their burger van was brilliant. It was so fresh and juicy and i would spend the whole day there just eating all the lovely food!!!
Don't think the event runs anymore but i went religiously for a few years and the food was one of the main reasons i kept going!!

They have a lovely burger van at my Local RC- i rarely eat food from burger vans but i really like this one!
Would never eat anything from Gracelands tho- have seen the cats walking all over the cooking areas- YUK!

Most of them are pretty gross. But there's one that goes to competitions near me (Wilts/Hants/Dorset) that's fab (fantastic cakes, sandwiches etc, and quality burgers). It's called Rider's Digest if you ever see it
