I was just pondering...... Who has taught running contacts and have you found them better?

And those that haven't taught running is there a particular reason?

That is all :) ....

I prefer two on/two off as firstly it's much easier for me as a novice handler to know that I can automatically leave my dog on a contact while I sort myself out for the next sequence (I am often in the wrong place :o) and secondly because a running contact can be very difficult to judge and I'd be gutted if we ever lost out on a win because the judge claimed not to see the contact made. 2o2o can't be argued with in that respect.

Myself and husband taught running contacts as training very unenthusiastic elkhounds. Stopping on contacts was not motivating them at all!

My staffordshire bull terrier does running contacts, as he has a relatively short stride compared for example to a collie, and as he is a short heavy dog, muscle not fat btw, I don't think stopping dead at the bottom of the a frame would do his joints any favours! He's never been faulted on a contact so it works for us.
