My mare is supposed to be a 6yo this spring but she is just in the process of losing her corner baby teeth. I can see her big teeth coming through, pushing the small ones out. Does her age match up with her teeth??
a foal has a set of milk teeth which are gradually replaced by permanent teeth all of them usually by the age of five so shes about 4 i would get her check by someone who knows about teeth or wait till you need the vet and them get them checked as she sounds about 4ish
last incisors come out and are replaced aged 4....
on this chart it says up to 5.....
Sequence of tooth eruption

second 4-6 weeks 3 ½- 4 years
Third 6-9 months 4 ½-5 years

OMG... I was bought this mare as a scrawny 4yo two years ago. She was 15.2hh and is now 16.1hh. I backed her and schooled her on and competed in pre-lims and SJ. Is there any chance a rising 6yo could hold onto there corner baby teeth for longer? Do you think she is rising 5??
The vet did her teeth 2 months ago and he didnt mention her age. I compared my friends 6yo's mouth to my mares. Her horse had an adult big set of teeth and mine has corner teeth starting to erupt

if thats th case then the oldest she could be is 5.....youngest between 4 and 4 1/2.....
possible but vey much dought it i would say shes about 4-41/2 but no older then 5 as i say i would just get them check to make sure as you dont want to be doing that cant of heavy work if shes around that age
