Wanting to hopefully hear some success stories. We have a lovely mare, she is 17 this year but hasn’t done a lot until we got her at 14. She has always been sensitive, quite a sharp ride and can be a little bit mareish.
Physio last time commented she was tight in lower back and short on left hind. The shortness was not something I’d witnessed before but two days after she had been she came into season - and a few more days once it had finished I watched her on the lunge and she was definitely not short at all - in fact she was almost forging she was stepping under so well. Fast forward three weeks and she’s been in season again - farrier commented she felt a little tight when trimming her yesterday. She’s a lovely mare, not a nasty bone in her, I’ll obviously get it investigated more if needs be but first port of call is going to be to try agnus castus - just ordered some in fact. I’ve used it before for my last pd mare who had cushings. I so question that she is borderline ems so I think it may help for this reason too.
I’ve mostly had geldings so interested to hear about your experiences with mares and what helped. She has also had two foals in the past if that makes any difference or ovary pain more likely?
Photo of her being trimmed yesterday to thank you for making it this far!
