My collie dog when she was younger was a demon with other dogs, but they where usually bitches and either black, GS or dalmation. She would grab them by the throat and pin them down, quite frightening. She was a rescue and had allot of fear aggression, i used to know her body language by heart and could tell when she was going to go. Even with lots of training from obedience, distraction training and stuff she has never been fully cured. I would put a backet muzzel on till you have it under control otherwise you could end up in trouble if he hurts another dog as owners dont seem to appreciate there dog being mauled.
Lots of trainig and try and find out what sets the dog off.

I saw a programme where the trainer stated you need to keep the dog focused on you. They need to learn to stay close at heal & by staying focused they learn to ignore outside situations. It was all about dogs learning that they are not the pack leader. Also some dogs feel more threatened when on a lead as there is no escape, depends on why, what triggered it, do you know?

Ok echo sooty.. what age? breed? describe the agression...

My puppy, Finn, nearly 5month old Rhodesian Ridgeback was petrified of others dogs until recently - he has become much braver however his answer is Bark first then go in an say hi!!! (No nastyness at all - he's a soft coward dressed up in a lion hunters body!!)

we got our dog as a 6 yr old due to her agression with other dogs. we think she has the problem as was the only pup in the litter and so didn't get the important feedback from other pups when getting out of line.

since we've had her it's been better but you may find the following advice useful:

1. ignore her whenever you reunite after a separation ie being out of the room or house
2. pretend to eat her dinner before feeding her or let her see you eating first
3. if she barks and runs to greet visitors you must thank her then shut her away for a minuite while they come in so you and not the dog do the greeting
4. always insist on leading the way on the walk and dont let her pull, if she pulls stand still and refuse to move until she comes to your side (you dont shout or say anything just ignore the dog or change directio

these are to convince the dog you are in charge of the pack, she will attack other dogs to protect you, it's important you dont reprimand her for this or the agression will be heightened

with our dog we practiced making her stand quietly with us inbetween her and the dog while stroking her and speaking and feeding her choc drops to reinforce the other dog as a good thing

good luck sorry so long pm me if any further ques.
