Morning All!

So the husband has mooted the idea of allowing me two bays of his agricultural barn for stables. However, in his mind horses=waste of space so I'd like to make as little impact as possible!

The bays are 15ftx 30ft so I'm planning 15x12 stables. If I go to the front of the bay this would have the least impact but there would be very little overhang. I don't think this would be such an impact with the stables being 15ft wide and I will have an undercover area for farrier etc. and other than the door they will be fully boarded.

Now I do love the curved fronts like this https://www.stablesonline.co.uk/internal-stables-range/premium-internal-stable-range/ but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be great in this setup or would need a substantial overhang?

I just wanted some thoughts or experience really... would i be going for style over substance with the curved fronts?

Thanks :)

Which way round are the bays? 15ft deep? and 30ft wide? So you would have a 3ft area for farrier etc? depending who big your horses are could you go 10ft by 15ft stables? giving you a little more room infront?

Would the curved fronts give enough protection from the elements or would you have soggy beds and horses if you get some bad weather?

I saw these just last week in a large barn. I'm not a fan of stables but I liked these and I wouldn't hesitate to choose them in your situation. The barn still felt spacious and the horses are less 'shut in'.

Thanks guys, just for clarification the bays are 15ft wide 30 ft deep, so my plan would be 15ft wide by 12ft deep for a 16hh and a 17hh.

Husband would be happy if I didn't have the full 30ft depth as this could be used for storage and I have another bay for farrier etc.

I agree those stable fronts do look pretty. However if someone gave me stables in barn bays that size I would immediately rip them out and allow the horses to have the whole area so they have space to wander rather than be restricted in stables.

I'd love to do this but they don't share fabulously and I like to give them space to gey away from the other. They will be able to touch each other between

Could you do 2x 15 by 15ft stables in one bay opening to the side into the second bay? So one would be at the front and one at the back. This would give you a whole bay of undercover tie up space and storage?

Assuming you have 2 bays at the end of the shed. So the stables would be tucked up against the end wall.
