I am looking to buy a property with an AG i have spoken to the council who say i can satisfy the condition by putting sheep on the land . Know nothing about sheep ! I want to build up a livery yard have three horses of our own who apparently can graze but not be put into a stable without change of use. Anyone experience of how easy or hard this is to do.

I would be very careful and get advice from an expert, each ag tag will have individual clauses depending on the property etc and the councils do take them very seriously, have the council agreed that if you graze sheep that would be acceptable to the wording of the ag tag, do you not need to earn money from the property, if you set up a livery yard that is classed as equestrian and not agricultural, you may be able to get the council to change the use from agricultural to equestrian and if you need a mortgage on the property the mortgage companies are much more difficult to convince that you comply with the ag tag than the council. Speaking from experience it is a complicated lengthy process, good luck.
