I'm looking for some experiences of doing an Agriculture BSc, and how you got on jobs-wise after your degree. I've been on the Nottingham Uni website, which actually says that there sometimes more job offers than students! Nottingham looks lovely, can anyone recommend any other unis? Thank you in advance for any help :)
 
My son and daughter both went to Harper Adams, younger daughter is off there in a few weeks, although they didn't do Agriculture, the uni does have a very good record of graduates going into jobs. I think this is alot to do with that they do a placement year in industry gaining experience which alot of unis don't offer. Agriculture is one of those jobs that paper qualifications don't mean anything if you can't actually do the hands on stuff. Apparently the social life is pretty good too ;)
 
I did a diploma in ag at Brackenhurst college (nottingham trent uni) and loved it there. Not entirely certain it helped me with my career (now teache environmental science to children!) Have since done my Bsc conservation at Writtle (Essex uni) and can highly recommend them too. The only uni/college I have heard bad press about when it comes to ag courses is Bishop Burton.
 
I did it in UCD and had a job on a graduate programme before I even did my finals! I graduated in 2008 and am now with a different company and love it! I work in dairy/beef nutrition and am on farms all day every day!
 
I did my degree at Sutton Bonnington (Nottingham Uni). I followed the animal science stream although all degrees awarded were titled Agriculture and Food Science then. I ended up being a teacher! I had a wonderful time there. The setting is beautiful, the social life was (and I understand still is ) great. Friend's son just finished vet degree there. I don't remember anyone having any problem getting a job and people went into a wide range of careers - that was 23 years ago though! Wish I could do it all again.

I've got my heart set on Sutton Bonington! It looks so lovely, we'll probably be going to have a look around in a couple of months time. Going slightly off topic, do you know if there are many stables or riding opportunities around there?
 
I didn't ride much when I was there. I was on the riding team but we used to go to a riding school for competitions and I used to go for lessons occasionally. I rode when I came home. When I was there I don't remember anyone taking a horse (it was a long time ago). I seem to remember someone a year or two below me taking a horse but I don't know where she kept it. Things will have changed now though. I should contact them and ask. I do sometimes dream I am back there and I always have a horse when I do! Odd!
