Looking for reviews. Did you feed a supplement with it or on its own? Would it suit a barefoot grass sensitive poor doer thoroughbred?
 
I was really excited to try this, and bought 4 bags. It smelt and looked amazing, but my horses,( 2 tb's and a greedy wb, none known for being fussy) disagreed. One TB tolerated it, the other starved himself if I added even a little bit, and the wb ate it grudgingly :(

It also worked out incredibly expensive if I had managed to get the in-work TB to eat the recommended amount for the work he was in.

I think in theory it should be good for grass sensitive types, I was planning to continue adding linseed and half their mineral mix(as recommended by Michelle from red rufus).
 
This range of feed was suggested this week to me from my feed supplier - as an alternative to Simple Systems, which I currently feed.

What are peoples thoughts, is it similar or basically a completely different low sugar feed?

I have a feeling that my feed supplier are pushing this feed in a view to getting rid of Simple Systems - not that that will sway me, I am quite prepared to order online.

I have to admit mine may turn their noses up at it after so many years of feeding mash. Also ultimately it looks like I would need to add something else for energy.
 
It has less than what I am feeding. He is grass sensitive but not with his feed if that makes sense.
 
Pre Alpin are just hay cobs. They are not a complete feed, so I would feed a vit/min balancer along side.

Also check the digestible energy, as it changes from crop to crop. I had one bag (bought in France) that was 11MJ, and the next year it went right down to 8.

Unfotunately I can't buy it over here any more, but if I could I'd use them instead of mo-free sugar beet - especially when made with hot water they smell amazing.

Most of Simple systems' range are based on various forms of alfalfa and beet, as the pre alpine range doesn't contain either of these it would be a good alternative for someone looking not to feed these ingredients.

I looked at it as high calcium where I am limits what I can feed and I'm always looking for options. However the products currently being imported though lower than alfalfa are about comparable to sugar beet so still too high for my needs. Though I understand there are other products not listed on the website yet.

ETA there is apparently a mash which people with sensitive poor doers are having good results with.

I don't feed Alfalfa because my horse has become itchy on it, so pre alpin looked like a good alternative. I use Graze On but bought a bag of Aspero and it smells delicious and completely different from Graze On. Horse loves her buckets and has taken to this with gusto. I've got Musli which seems delicious, cobs that are readily wolfed down (switched to these from Fast Fibre) and of the Aspero that is lasting ages and is also well received. I'll definitely be sticking to it, though do add a balancer to ensure she's getting enough vitamins.
 
I'm a complete convert to it and all mine love it. I won't be feeding beet or anything else again. I'm tempted to try the muesli myself, it looks like it would be lovely with a bit of yoghurt drizzled over..!

I've tried the black lumps in it, they taste like charcoal.
 
Having had a massive problem with the small feed company mentioned in this post I am in the process of putting mine on to the Agrobs Museli, he absolutely loves it and no bad effects yet. I am also adding the top spec joint balancer to it and it is saving me loads of effort as the museli contains lots of the herbs I added to his feed in the past and the balancer is for gut and joints so less faffing about which means I also now don't need to buy the vit/mineral supllement I was also adding in along with the joint supplement. Happy days, I really like the Agrobs feed, the museli looks and smells great quality and no lucerne which has made my horse so poorly! So much more straightforward. My entire yard appears to be on the verge of swapping to them and a lot of the large feed barns are suddenly starting to stock it.
