Dad was moving the horsebox earlier this morning (he's not sure why!) and the back wheel of the trailer is locked. He drove round with it for a while, forwards, reversing etc. but it's still locked. We're going to either try and get it sorted today somehow or borrow someone elses trailer... How lucky am I that we found out today and not tomorrow morning!!

I should also add that this isn't the first time that the wheel has locked on our trailer. About 2 years ago the day before a hunter trial the same bl**dy thing happened!

Ours does that sometimes if it hasn't been used for a while and the brake has been left on. It usually frees itself if you keep going backwards and forwards. I agree it is a pain so we usually leave the brake off and chock the wheels.

Agree with Haniki, I had a really ancient trailer once and one wheel kept locking as we had to use the brake when it was parked. In the end we piled millions of bricks around the wheels so we could leave the brake off, and mostly the wheel stopped locking. Luckily it was a lightweight trailer so it didn't roll straight through the bricks!
Lucky you found out before you needed it though!

Panic over, trailer's now sorted!

Just a tip when you park a trailer its always worth pulling forward slightly just to release the brakes this should prevent them from lockign up if left a while

Yeah, remember you're meant to roll forward a bit if you park your trailer (rather than just reverse and stop) which I believe helps to stop wheels doing this. We do this and also leave the brake off which has stopped it happening.

The trailer we used to use was a pig for this. However, the makers said that you must NEVER park with the brakes on.
