This is probably going to end up as more of a rant than anything but never mind. Back at the start of December our YO told us that in the new year the yard would be moving a mile down the road. Eventually we moved about two weeks ago to the new yard. He has built it himself and is in a barn and all lovely but the arena is still at the old yard. Although only a mile away from the arena the road to get to the new yard is far too busy to hack on so horses have to be boxed everywhere. We were told that we could box up to the old yard to use the school whenever we wanted so although it is a nuisance we have been doing so as hoping the school would be moved before April as promised despite the weather! Today I was tacking up outside the trailer and the land owner of the old yard (YO rents his yards) came up to me and asked how much I was paying said YO for the use of the arena. I said it was part of my livery package and had been told I could use it until the land was prepared for it to be moved. He said that my YO was supposed to have finished moving the horses and arena by the start of October!! And said he was going to have to speak to him. I asked if we could still use today and he said it was fine but I don't think I will be able to school anymore🙁 with no turnout and a spicy horse loading has become a nightmare and at the moment I seem to be paying £440 per month for a stable and half an hour on the walker. My other option is 45 minutes away but I think I will have to move. It seems a real shame as current yard will be lovely when (I mean if, as YO is already in debt) the arena has moved as only 5 min drive away and huge school but I just can't leave a horse in a stable for months.
Sorry, that did indeed become a rant

Don't you have any turnout either at the new yard ?
You are paying a lot of money for no facilities.
Sounds like your landlord can't afford the new school.
A lot of money for him to pay out too if he doesn't actually own the yard.
I would move.

Can you speak to the yo and explain your concerns and see if you can make a temporary move. It could be if the liveries start taking about moving it will get his arse in to gear and get thing moving. If he thinks you are all happy to wait then he might just dawdle .......I've find this to be a man thing.

so you have no turnout and arena for that money I would go, I find a lot of yo promise things but in reality they never get done especially if people are paying and staying put, if you really don't want to leave I would get everyone together and ask to speak to him and make it clear what you want done to make everyone happy.

Hmmm. Sounds like a move is on the cards. What other services do you get for your 440? X
He does everyday care as I work long hours and come up to groom every day and ride at least 5 times per week. We will give notice tomorrow as new yard can take us in two weeks. Obviously we will pay for the months notice anyway, I'm somewhat hoping he might actually start doing something if he knows we will leave.

Seriously, no turnout at the new yard? I don't care if the everyday care is 24 hours straight of singing lullabies, the horse needs to have some turnout. It's almost spring.

Wow I pay around the same for full livery with all year turnout and 2 arenas (1 indoor). I would be looking for my YO to take a much more proactive role in getting this new set up and working but he doesn't seem to be worried about his liveries sticking by him.
