Ah saddle width

Just wondering how to tell the width of an ah saddle not stamped width came with horse, 9 inch d-d? Question from friend

Without any stamp I doubt you can tell. Contact AH with photos, they should be able to tell you model and that may give an idea. I've always found them to be very helpful.

AH should have records of the original width and possibly if it's been made wider

The records at head office will have some records on adjustments, but not all. Width can be assessed by a fitter from a photo taken square on from the front, though it can be easier with more straight cut saddles than with a jump saddle. D to d measurement means not a jot on any saddle, even on identical models the d ring (technically it's actually a fall down staple) is added a fair way through the process of making, and the position can vary. Roughly a 4, a wide, though some may say the AH widths are a fraction narrower than some other brands.
