Well Honeys come sooo far with her feet with farrier 1
grin.gif

From kicking out as soon as her legs were touched, to picking up all feet happily and having trims done with ease!
I have just got another mare (Mysti) and shes not scared with her feet at all!
Would like to put her with farrier 1 but hes very expensive!
Honeys staying with farrier 1, but Mysti can go in with another farrier whos loads cheaper (still does good job but not as reliable, but she can go ages with her feet)
Do you think farrier 1 would be p*ssed off and drop me as a client as i really really dont want this to happen because honeys come so far!
What would you do ..?
Thanks in advance!

Would stick with the first one TBH. If he is patient and has taken time with a difficult horse, even if he is more expensive it is worth being a loyal cuistomer, if you ever have foot problems you will get the farrier out more quickly if you are a loyal and regular customer ime

Price should not be your priority, but having the best farrier for both. Stick with your good guy

It is a bit much to ask £25 - £30 for a welsh a's rasp though .. i mean 2 minutes and there done!
Farrier 2 never charged me over £10 for my old welsh a's feet

Unless money is really tight I would stick with farrier one. We're talking about £15/£20 more every 6 weeks or so. In the grand scheme of things when keeping horses that isn't a great deal.

Farrier 1.

Only ten minutes work - but with x years of training and experience behind him and the patience to handle the problems and turns up.

Ours charges £20 or £25 for a trim, can't remember which. He's always late (but now lets us know!) and he's a sarcastic twit, but he's a flaming good farrier who is good with the horses so I'm hapy to pay it.

Our farrier is very good, charges £20.00 each horse/pony for a trim. Was 2 hours late last week, but he is a good farrier and did wonders when my horse was touchy about having his back feet touched. Horse is great now.

Stick with Farrier 1

Its barley 2 mins work though, she only really needs a "proper" trim (if you understand that

) every 12 weeks plus but i would like to keep on top of it, its litterally a quick whizz round with the rasp

He wont do discounts and hes never had to come out individually to Honey, all the yard groups together every 6weeks, i could do £25 every 12weeks but im not sure how that would be much better

Its a bit of a tricky situation! And yes moneys tightish, spending triple what i could be spending for the same jobs a bit silly lol
