Just spied this on the BD website.......
The Event Insurance Winter Dressage Championship is changing venue and will be held at Hartpury College from next year, when the show dates will be 16th 20th April 2008.
British Dressage and the show organisers, Show Direct, made the decision to move to a larger facility to allow the championships to grow.
Solihull Riding Club has been great for the Winter Dressage Championships, but with increasing membership and increasing interest in competing through the winter we needed to move to a bigger venue, said BD Chief Executive David Holmes.
As a result of last years consultation with members the 2008 championships will include a new Advanced Medium Restricted Championship, sponsored by British Horse Feeds.
Additional arena space will also make it possible to increase the number of competitors taking part in the Petplan Equine Championships at the most popular levels of preliminary, novice restricted and novice open.
At these levels 60 competitors will ride in round one of the championships, with the top 30 of these going through to the second round to decide the Petplan Equine Champions.
We investigated a number of options for the championships, looking at a number of the larger competition venues available, said Sara Green, BD Rules & Fixtures Director. Nowhere is perfect, but the facilities put in place for the World Para Dressage Championships are fantastic and were delighted that this move will give more dressage riders the opportunity to compete here.
I've never been there but it sounds great.......just had hoped that it might have been a bit closer to me. Oh well........the penalty for living in the far east I guess!
