I actually had a friend who had quite a bad experience rehoming a horse from this charity in Ireland that rehomes a lot to the UK ( they thought they were getting a 4yr old gelding and a 2yr old colt arrived) but I was wondering if anyone else had rehomed from them? I see they are advertising ponies they need to rehome with no adoption fee - basically just given away free.

We were looking for a rescue dog and their name came up but have read some awful stories about them on Facebook. I wasn’t particularly aware that they also rehomed horses.

They were investigated by RTÉ here in Ireland and it was televised! Basically they had no proof as to where donation money was going and what it was being spent on. They also buy a lot of animals from fairs etc. which I suppose can be seen as supplying dodgey dealers with cash and encouraging the behaviour.

I sent a message asking about one. You need photos of your land and stables and a vet reference, all of which I could knock up in about 2 minutes. Transport is nearly £400 though so they are making something on that as its normally £250

They buy in stock and sell it on for a profit while also getting donations. Everyone else must love it when they turn up at a market.

Yes they buy dogs from dog breeders and puppy farmers then make out they are rescued just to get donations. Photos are on "Stop-the-cruelty AHAR " FB page.

They do this a lot. A few years ago half the country was infected by strangles cause ahar “saved” a truck load of horses bound for slaughter, then sent them to whoever wanted one. None were checked or passported they literally walked off one truck and onto another to whoever it was driving - many went to the dodgyiest dealers In the country and were for sale an hour later many went right back to the slaughter lorry for free but ahar got nice donations from the ever caring public for buying them and saving them.

Do you have to use their transport though or wasnt that an option

There have been numerous threads about them on this very section of the forum. Just put AHAR in the search box at the top right of the page.
