You lucky people! Our horses arent going out till end of April. I have the dirtiest mare ever!!! She goes out 24/7 in the summer and it is pure bliss. I do poo pick but every other day and its lovely when the weather is nice so dont mind.x

soooo - how many of you keep out in the winter with a field shelter?

Four horses wintered out this year on my yard. They were in a field with good shelter, a field shelter, and of course ad lib haylage in the form of big round bale replaced every few days.

Bet I can't find a yard that will be able to offer that - and a decent school though
Mine are usually out 24/7 during the winter, but this year it was so wet I decided to keep them in a night as we only have a small acreage and didn't want it to get totally trashed. So they were in for the grazing's protection not their own! They all cope well outside and my old 7/8 TB mare definitely prefers it that way.

You must be joking i'm not poo picking 20 acres!! Tractors and harrowing etc is the way forward there!
If you cared about your horse you would .. Terrible horse owner !!
Just because she doesnt poo pick doesnt mean she doesnt care about her horse! Twenty acres is huge and from my experience of keeping my horses in a twenty acre field, it doesnt make much difference if you poo pick or not, theres tonnes of grass anyway! Ive never poo picked any field that my horses have been in and they are all very healthy, happy animals!
Been mucking out since September, horses were in from December until 3 wks ago 24/7
now out during the day mucking out is only taking 30 minutes to do 4 horses (although one lives in 24/7 regardless).
Think they will be turned out full time end of April. HOwever, i have a feeling my little warmblood will protest! as he loves coming in, and Winston needs to come in during teh summer really due to his ever expanding waste line.... arghhh I DONT WANT TO SEE STRAW BEDS for at least 4 months lol
