Why do horses alway injure themselves when there is a competition coming up???
Serioulsy he is the most sound horse i've ever met but he just seems to get himself into trouble in the field; i've entered 2 events this season and had to withdraw because he ran onto a stick in the field. Today I've been up and he has a huge knee when im entered at Bishop Burton!
He's not lame on it and it goes down mostly when he works on it (theres a little cut underneath his fur)
Has anyone had any experience of this??

I had a big knee vey recently. was slightly warm, but very swollen. I gave a week off, cold hosed twice daily and when the vet came to do vaccines, got him to have a look and he said work away. HE wasn't lame.
Is yours hot?
I am not all that experienced but I now tend to go for the if it's not sore or under the saddle, it should be fine (I have a similar horse to yours regarding injuries!) . Mine got a big puncture wound in his foot on the night before a competition!hacking out along a straight, clean road...nightmare!

Not hot, was a little warm when he came in first but just feels normal temp now. Had gone down a bit this morning so fingers crossed he'll be ok. Will have to make sure he doesnt know when my next competition is so he doesnt injure himself again!
