So Iv finally decided to go for it, and Im renting some grazing and a shelter/stable, going from a livery yard to just this :)
Im scaredddddddddd, but Im sure it'l be fine :)

Yes Im borrowing a little pony from a friend, if all goes ok I can buy her eventually but will just loan her for the moment.
I so hope your both right and I love it, Im going to miss my friend so much but theres others who I REALLY wont miss.
Looking forward to just pottering around poo picking with the ponies, no one else :)

I think the trouble is I talk myself into thinking I can't cope without everything at the yard...when in reality all my horse needs is somewhere to shelter and a friend and she will be happy :)

you don't say how long you've owned horse before moving, but i'm guessing 6 months plus?

in which case, congratulations on doing it the sensible way round. ie getting some experience in first somewhere where you have decent back up

many of the horses i work with have previously been subjected to being taken on by numpties
who think once they've had 3 riding lessons (on ready caught, tacked, fed and groomed horses)
they know everything they need to know and can go out and buy a horse and keep it in the garden shed....

you'll be fine, but keep in touch with a couple of the clued up people from yard so you can pick their brains if required

and try to find someone nearby who could 'do' your horse in an emergency - on a reciprocal arrangement.
just having that available, even if you never use it, takes a lot of stress off

have fun!!!!!

Iv had her 5 years so yes don't worry I haven't had 3 lessons , bought her and shoved her in a field :) And believe me the people at the yard are the last people I'd ring for advice about anything!! I'm across the road from a yard where I have friends who can help me in an emergency etc and hack out with , best of both worlds :) very scared but excited!

We moved to a small yard by ourselves in Sept last year, and my WB has become more and more relaxed. I've owned him for about 18 months and adore him but this more chilled version is amazing!

I have 2 smallish children and although they are never alone with my horses its nice that I can relax knowing that my horses are kid proof.

Yesterday - 1st day of term so went for a ride came back stood in the sunshine and pulled his mane then turn them out and did a super muck out then poo picked with pony trying to mug me for any treats he was imagining in my pockets.

The best day- sometimes i miss being on a yard mostly for the school but thats it :D
