????

My season is finished now, bring on a bit of hunting and some chill time!
grin.gif

This year I wanted to jump Newcomers and get a DC PN, and I've actually managed both!
smile.gif

Our BE record is a bit crap to look at, but he has been amazing the last couple of XC runs PN so I want to get doing Novice next year!
grin.gif
Am I mad???

Other than that just want to get better with our flat work in general to improve dressage and SJ.

So what about you guys?
smile.gif

Well I've not really had much fun this year! Riding club camp in April was an aim achieved, and then I also achieved my aim of taking my share horse to his first dressage competition. That's all I've done!
Next year I want to buy a new horse, go to the next RC camp, join BD and compete at novice level. Plus go to lots of lessons. Just getting a job to pay for a new horse (and the existing one) would be a good start at the moment though
crazy.gif
laugh.gif

to learn to jump again and score a 70% dressage, hmmmmm need a miracle i think, 50% may be a better aim, and i can't see myself jumping......

Have faith!
tongue.gif

Even me and Badger can get 60% (thats eventing though.. so a bit different) so i'm sure anyone normal who can actually ride can get at least 60% no probs!
wink.gif

Well this season has been a bit of a mixed bag I'm afraid (but then isn't it always with horses)
My aim was to do a couple of EI novices with my mare and qualify and take her to the RC 3 day event champs at offchurch.
Managed to qualify easy enough but unfortunately Skew-whiff became very ill and now has to be retired so was unable to go to the finals (only 2 weeks before we were due to leave!)

On a more positive note we bought Nicky during the summer and I wasn't even looking for a new horse!
He has improved so much and we have gone clear round 6 novice tracks( and finished 5th and 6th) in the 5 months I've had him.

Aims for 2009 to get Nicky to Ballygraffin CIC* in may, Tatts CCI* and then Necarne CCI* in the Autumn (and therefore acheive my ambition of riding in top hat and tails) Would also like to move him up to Intermediate *fingers crossed*

Hmm, been a mixed one! Had some very good results, and some not so good results!

Highs:

Some fantastic lessons with some fantastic people.
wink.gif

2nd in first ever 1.05m SJing
Won at 95cm
Several DC's at 85cm
10th in 1st PN
Clear in first 4 BE events XC this year
Would have got first test in 20's if muppet jockey hadnt messed up going wrong!
wink.gif

Lows:

Entering alot more events than I got too!!
Last 3 runs BE not being great
First time EVER getting 4 poles down SJing
blush.gif
blush.gif

Not getting to first Nov as was on track to do about 3mnths ago!!

SO, aiming to have a happy and confident horse SJing round 1.05m tracks+ next year.
To go Nov BE (without splatting me!!)
Possibly join BD and get some points
wink.gif

To get the SGO out a bit more SJing and possibly some more ODE's next year...
wink.gif

very impressive Kat and that is why you should not get yourself down, start thinking positive for next year
smile.gif
BTW i did not say on my earlier post i am glad you had a ncie day with SGO, hopefully it makes up a bit for last weekend
smile.gif

edited to say:

forgot my aims LOL
I just want to have a happy year
smile.gif
If i can repeat this year i shall be a very lucky girl
smile.gif

still 3mths to go yet and hoping for dramatic improvements in that time! i got him in march and so far he has:
won his only ridden showing class
placed in-hand both times out
won an Intro dressage test
been placed in some prelims
got over 60% in prelim
been XC schooling and jumped the Intro fences
been to a sponsored rides
walking and trotting over coloured trotting poles sort of happily
much more settled out and about and generally calming down a bit

this is from a baby who was scared of his own shadow and had only hunted in Wales before. pretty pleased with what we've done.

big aims for next year:
BE Training level, maybe Intro by the end of the season
BD Novice and get points, do Area Festivals and qualify for music Winter Semi's
more ridden showing
get him much more confident with show-jumping

Hope so!
smile.gif
I'm trying to focus on the general feel of things this year as results wise we haven't done great, don't think I've even had a DC BSJA!
tongue.gif
Good job the standard is pretty low round us so I've managed to scoop up a bit of prize money!
tongue.gif

I'll see you doing the Novice at Aske this time next year then - yes?
grin.gif

Highs
Rode in top hat and tails
grin.gif

Won at Ele BD, who would have thought
wink.gif
now have 37 points, not bad for our first year
Rode at Windsor, in the main ring in the services jumping coming 8th
Placed twice BE and now have 4 points
grin.gif

Qual for BD combined trg at open

Lows
Muppet rider at AF forgot the test costing us a top 10 placing
Few 20 pens where muppet rider not been on ball, never blame Saf
tongue.gif

Losing Barney dog
frown.gif

Next year want to go clear all novices? do another CIC and have a crack at CCI money allowing, improve my dressage and try to have a few more clear rounds but most of all want Saf to enjoy her life, stay sound and healthly and learn to love me
grin.gif

This year - moved up to disco & look reasonably competent at it.
smile.gif
Show performance in gen (warmup etc) is less erratic.
grin.gif

Dr - haven't done anything lately as we've been surmounting 'issues'.
blush.gif
tongue.gif

We have also managed to bond, which I was beginning to doubt would happen. (I lost my previous horse to illness in 2007, which was unbearably traumatic.
frown.gif
)

2009 - maybe edge up to NC?
Dr - get a shiny point!!! I.e. be able to put in a competent performance at Novice.

Not much by other people's standards, but it's plenty for an ordinary rider with an argumentative horse.

I have 3 months to give an update on 2008

2009, I will be competitive at NC at least.

[/ QUOTE ]

Have you bought anything yet Weez/sold P?

Sorry if i'm behind!!

Plenty for an ordinary rider (like me!!) without an arguementative horse I think!

A good 2008 compared to 2007
tongue.gif
:

C stayed sound and has been in good form, he had a few placings at hunter trials in the spring doing pairs with sis on her pony, he also did well at sj and dsg comps during the summer and has really chilled out this year and stopped having panic attacks
smile.gif
. he came 3rd and 4th at his 2 riding club ode's during the summer and came 3rd in the RC national ode yesterday
grin.gif
He was 14th in his first prenovice and 9th in his second, I had planned to do a lot more but he had 6 weeks off when everything was cancelled with the rain
frown.gif
We still have 2 prenovices left this season and plan for next year is to register him properly with EI and move up to novice and maybe try and aim for tatts or necarne
grin.gif

W, didn't do half as much as I'd hoped with her as everything was rained off
crazy.gif
but her flatwork and sj has really come on. Sis started to ride her and took her to PC camp which did her the world of good, sis might do some interschool sj with her over the winter and then I'll hopefully do some intros with her next spring and sis will do PC with her.

B, is back in work
smile.gif
!!! Didn't think I'd even be considering plans for her but all going well she'll do some dressage and sj over the winter and *might* aim to do RC ode's next season. If not she'll go back in foal.

T, was backed this year as a 3 yo and next spring will start proper work and probably just be out at training and RC shows to see the big bad world!! Hopefully do some showing with him (connemara) and depending on how he does might aim for Dublin.

Little B, depends on how he grows up but I'll see about bringing him out to some 2 year old classes at the agricultural shows
smile.gif

Well my aim for 2008 was to be jumping Discovery by the end of the year and to be getting consistantly better marks Novice dressage.
As Jenny is injured, we haven't achieved our first aim, although we have had some really good outings in the BN so I'm still very pleased and I think if she hadn't been injured we'd definitely have achieved our goal.
Dressage-wise, her scores were finally starting to improve. Although we are never going to take the dressage world by storm she now has a few points and I'm hoping we'll be able to start some dressage at the end of this month to tide us over the winter.
In 2009, all being well we should be jumping again by February. My aim is to start back doing a bit of unaffiliated - I'm not sure for how long - it will depend totally on her attitude when we start up again - I think she will be overly keen!
crazy.gif
Once she's jumping consistantly I'll renew my BSJA membership and we'll see from there. I definitely want to be doing DCs BN by the end of 2009 but would also hope we are also doing DCs discovery too - but it all depends how she goes with this blummin injury.
Dressage-wise - I would like to continue with improving our tests at Novice level and possibly even be trying our first elementary by the end of the year.
The plan if Jenny hadn't been injured was to have a go at a BE intro in 2009 but I don't think that's going to happen in the circumstances now.
This injury has given me a bit of a shake up and I will definitely be competing less in 2009 and picking my venues VERY carefully.

2008-
Acheived my goals with Moon of-
-Having a happy, heathy and sound horse
-Getting more BE points
-Going intermediate and being able to tell how much further she'll go. Having had 3 cracking rides round very different intermediate xcs and very promising sj results too my aims for next year are-

2009
-Improve my dressage scores
-Continue getting established at intermediate
-Do a couple of CIC**s, hopefully with qualifying scores
-Try a CCI** if CICs go well
-Maybe have a bash at an AI at the end of the year

I also want to find a horse to start the whole process with again. Fingers crossed I've found her, shall update you in a few weeks time :P

2008
Was lucky enough to find a super talented horse on my doorstep
smile.gif
which is sound and tough *touches wood everywhere*
Have had no competition results but learnt a HUGE amount in the process- so very excited for next year.

Not so good things-
Selling Harry, another super horse
My 4 yr old having to be turned away
Selling Owen ( perhaps a good thing as I finally moved on from him)

2009 Aims- training, training and more training
Winter- Elementary dressage and Newcomers BSJA
Eventing, starting with a few PNs, on to N's and then end of the season CCI*/a few intermediates

my 2008 season (with still one event left to go
tongue.gif
)

lots of highs and lows

highs
not having a showjump down all year
grin.gif
grin.gif
*touches wood*
going clear in all his events (bar one from a numpty mistake from me
tongue.gif
)
5 shiny points at his second novice (where we were 2nd
laugh.gif
)
getting placed at our only 2 novices (5th and 2nd)
qualifiying for Ballygraffen CIC*
2nd at Area Trials and coming 5th individual and team at IPC champs
going dc at the Dengie finals
Winning Glenarm PN
R Champion at Armagh county show

Lows:
His constant injuries meaining we missed most of the Spring season
missing out on the PC champs at draycott by 1 point
dressage has been hit and miss
tongue.gif

and we will probably never get the time at novice
tongue.gif

aims for next year -
keep going like this year but a whole lot faster!
tongue.gif

Ballygraffen CIC*, Tatts CIC* and hopefully if he dosent try and kill himself over the winter/spring maybe necarne CC1*.... however with merlin you would never know
wink.gif

I have his injury plan worked out - he will try and kill himself mid feb, will be off for 3 months and will miss most of the spring season
tongue.gif

Highs of this season were getting J out doing PNs and not making too much of a fool of ourselves, after everyone telling me to start him at intros.

Getting a double clear at PN (Carlton)

Getting somewhere with his bitting issues and discovering the hackamore!

Feeling like J is ready to move up to novices

Aims for 2009:

Get J out jumping newcomers all winter

Get him doing Novices (hopefully fairly early on in the season)

Aim to do a 1* towards the end of the season (slightly mad and unlikely I know
tongue.gif
)

Mixed bag for me this year
crazy.gif
Had an aim this year to have jumped a NC so still not giving up that hope as have a few months left yet
wink.gif

Highs:
Winning Hickstead Riding Club Team Speed competition
grin.gif

Going double clear (and coming ind 4th) at Intermediate area qualifiers for RC championship.
First double clear at a unaff. ODE and coming ind 6th (horse hates XC
wink.gif
)
Finally feeling happy and settled with a new flatwork instructor.

Lows:
Horse's on/off lameness means I have only been to 3 BSJA shows all year
crazy.gif

First ever elimination.
Missing RC National Finals due to an abscess.

Aims for 2009:
Get my double clears at Disco (and maybe NC
wink.gif
)
Get my regional qualifications at Prelim and Novice (planning on going BD next year too)
If he stays sound - maybe, just maybe, jumping a 1.15 track by the end of the year.

Highs...

- Cracking the showjumping (occasionally!) and jumping 4 DC's at Novice BE
- Getting placed at novice and gaining 11 points
- Completing CCI* - particular high was going clear inside time xc

Lows...

- Balloting and cancellation - particularly from Weston CCI*. But they are my only lows so can't complain!

Aims for 2009 - have a crack at some intermediates and if all goes well consider a CIC** at the end of the season...but we shall see about that one! Intermediate is the first plan of action!
