We've been looking at the places around Cheshire that run BSJa for when I register, and Mum said that Aintree is close.
Have found a few photos of it, and it looks very posh!! Big full wall windows that Blu could gawp through

Anyway, was wondering if anyone had been there, and could say what it is like? Also any other venue suggestions; we know about Southview, Bold heath etc.

I think Aintree is lovely, i went to the first ever show there and they managed to get 2 HUge show rings, one smaller show ring and a warm up. all on the one surface. its very posh and the surface is very good.

Southview is nice the indoor is lovely with the restaurant over the top.
however the warmup is tiny and unfortunately often over crowded. The parking is a bit lumpy.

Thannks for that - we went to watch the evening unaff at Southview, it is a massive indoor. Didn't get to see the warm up though..

Not been to Aintree yet but plan to go in the next few weeks, looks very grand indeed!

Southview's warm up is right along side the main indoor, on the right handside as you look down from the entrance. It is a bit small especially if you have to many people in there or they intend on standing around chatting like they do at pony club comps

There's also Northop which is very easy to get to and I think they do BSJA. Erm not sure where else, does Tushingham do BSJA? I know they do unaff.

northop is not far from me, its a lovely place and the parking is good, however if you go and its raining, phone to check that they are jumping in the indoor as the outdoor can get slippy when wet.
If your looking for the website for northop it is actualy called the welsh college of horticulture!

It might be a bit far for you but Northop has indoor and outdoor arenas. The indoor is 50 x 30m and the outdoor bigger. It's very tight jumping indoors there if they have lots of jumps but the outdoor arena has loads of space but is shedded car tyres so don't expect any white socks to come clean in the next week!

I was at Southview last night. The main arena has loads of space but it's a pity the warm up is so tiny (think it's a fair bit smaller than 20 x 40). It was OK last night though as there were only 6 in the class but its awful when there's loads around. Although they have now separated a bit off for people to stand horses in so they're out of the warm up arena.

I want to go to Aintree as I've heard fantastic things about it but I think it mght blow my horse's brains! And it's a fair trek for us to get there too. Let us know what it's like if you do go.

Elaine do you know when the next unaff SJ at Aintree is? Me and Shrimp are having a bit of a disaster with our showjumping at the moment as he's being a cocky bugger (got eliminated at Northop in the little classes... twice

) so need to get as much practise as possible!!

Damn im working but am going to Bold on Sunday. Shall try and go to the next ones

Well he hasnt done anything really since our disasters at Henbury and Hutton last year, only jumped him a few times at home and in a grid he jumps fab but when we get to a course if he's not quite right to the fence, he'll stop. Northop was our first time out since Hutton and we we're only doing the 2'9 and 3' classes

Its because he's fighting me and not concentrating so I really think its just practise. Also my confidence is pretty low at the moment (the 2nd and 5th pics in my sig now scare me!!! ) and we're turning into a dressage divas

He's been alot better without his shoes on though.

We've got a couple of lessons with RC soon so no doubt he'll sort us out, he's done it before!

I really like Aintree but it is very light & spooky. There is BSJA there on Sunday if you were thinking of having a look round before you go competing there.
Myerscough is good as well but it would be a fair way for you if you're in Cheshire.
