Daughter has qualified both horses (hers and mine), just one class each (90 and 1m), so now got to work out the logistics. Too late to find any accommodation near enough, so it's death by frostbite in the lorry!

Been told to take a bike, any other useful tips?

Anyone else on here going? We won't know anyone so be nice to meet up for a coffee - I've been told you can hang out in the cafeteria to thaw out.

Is it feasible to take dogs?

Anywhere to exercise on a day when not competing?

Bike not essential it's not that far just standard away show walking!
Take a heater!!!
Check Aintree's dog policy each show centre differs, most are on leads one local has a NO dog policy so be careful.
Cafe is ok but expensive, then there are bars open at night which will be warm. There is a KFC and a very nice Pub next door which does scrummy food, as well as a retail park further down the road and ASDA in case you run out of anything!

Lots of heaters and blankets and you will be ok. Have you got hook up?

Logistics of classes will be fine if you only have one horse in each as there will be hundreds in each class!

Thanks - bars sound a good option, and daughter likes KFC so that's the food sorted!

No hookup but a heater, hope it stays mild :)

Not expecting to get placed, but would be nice to make the final.

No-one else going???

I'm going!! Have qualified for the 90cm. Been having a bit of a panic as all on-site accommodation is booked up & my 3.5tonne box has no living or hook-up. The only accommodation I could find that wasn't booked was 1 mile away and the thought of driving the box to and fro & all the hassle has made me decide to buy a heater...and a big torch, lots of blankets etc & stay in my little box! Good luck & see you there, I am going on my own as my other half, although he is a farrier does not do horse shows! Likewise would be just happy with a ribbon, we are not the fastest but she is quite careful, just hoping we both enjoy ourselves :)

Thank you measles, may just do that :D ps my mare is small & dapple grey & likes whinnying at everyone so you will probably hear us before you see us!

We are lucky as aintree is my local venue. We have qualified for the 1m, but wont be fast enough to get anywhere i wouldn't have thought. Ive only just come out of my semi-(organising, wedding) retirement so could be fun too!
I am travelling because of the other horses and dog, but still love this show. The stables to arena isnt that far so prob wont need a bike. The food is ok but the arena, but pricey.. but bonus of KFC next door!!
Hope the weathers kind to you all that are staying over, and will see you there. My horse will be the dead giveaway chestnut mare not wanting to work in, and generally giddy kipper!

Good luck everyone.

Anyone still looking for last minute accommodation?? .. Aintree has just posted on facebook that a competitor cannot make the show and has booked the park hotel, it says to get in touch with aintree is anyone is still looking for accommodation.

I saw your pm just after I had tried the Premier Inn for the umpteenth time, and guess what - a room came up as I was online - sheer good luck.

It's a disabled room - they apparently keep them back until everything else is sold out, so we are sorted :) Just as well as chap coming to fix broken lorry heater has said he will be coming Monday "if everything goes to plan". Why does that phrase not fill me with joy?

Might be worth anyone else still looking to have a quick look online...

The premier inn on the Northern Perimeter is less than a mile away (I can walk it in 10 minutes max!) so if the hotel at the course is booked, it is nearer (and nicer) than the Park Hotel. For anyone who can't get in to them there is Holiday Inn Express at Knowsley (10 minute drive max) and next door to that is the Suites Hotel. If anybody needs any local info then give me a shout :) I will be spectating on Friday night so hopefully see you there.
