Who's bern and which classes have you done? Semi considering it for my racehorse. Possibly arena eventing, maybe some dressage (might need a diet for my tweed coat 😬). Will be most likely for non qualified classes. Keen to hear all experiences!

Right- fairly detailed reply - it has changed a bit over the years and wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't change a bit this year but essentially - non championship dressage and non championship showing on grass in front of the stands. I think some championship dressage may also have moved to the grass. Most dressage championship classes indoors as is the showing and all the jumping/arena eventing. Working in is on the grass, or you can use the little area at the racecourse chute, or up to 5 horses can use the small outdoors, which is very small. Last minute waiting, warm up can be done in the small indoors if competing indoors. The arrangements last year were dressage the first couple of days, then non championship showing on the Friday with the arena eventing etc on the Friday and the showing championships and gala evening on the Saturday. Dressage will be from intro upwards. You might be able to find the results/entries on Horsemonkey still, though I am not sure. The grass area is pretty quiet on the whole. You know Aintree so know all about the stabling etc. They charge per night. There is catering on site and of course the Toby Carvery. The hostel is available though imagine gets booked quite quickly. It can be fairly early classes and also quite late. One year our first class of the championships was a music class at 8.30 pm. It is fun though riding down in front of the grandstands in the dark. They open up the all weather for a ride round, though not when classes on taking place on the grass. You can hand graze the horses for an hour or so each day on the grass in the centre of the track though of course with classes on the grass they can eat pretty much any time.

Did you horse win quite a lot? The do a parade during the gala performance and the horses that won over £100,000 parade, which is always lovely.

Not sure I can think of much else but by all means ask or message me.

Results still on horse monkey, there is also a small outdoor warmup round the back of the indoor too, I have the prev years comp packs if you want me to email a copy.

I've always found it a good trip and often bump into people you know and people are supportive, no dates as yet for this year. Champs classes you'll need to qual for depending what you're doing, I usually either camp in the trailer or get a cheap room at the stables inn, kettlesin the jockeys rooms also handy. They are strict on vaccs as racecourse. Love the atmosphere even if we have no hope of winning lol, welcome to PM

It is an easy show isn't it from the point that it is racecourse stables so all very smart and tidy with good facilities.

Probably my favourite show, everyone is really friendly. Keep debating bringing the old guy out for 'one last time' but not sure he'll be sound enough. For various reasons we've only ever done the open dressage classes, some have been in the indoor, some on the middle of the racecourse, nice rosettes and stable door plaques etc. It's quite a nice feeling to ride down the centre line with your horse's name on the big screen at Aintree behind you and the commentator reeling off your horses racing achievements (or lack of in our case!)
