Aintree starts

Bloody GE did. Dammit. Bad start to my betting too.

And I thought you meant the starts of the races, it was a lot better than Cheltenham!

Not got the pressure of Cheltenham and so much for my wanting Minella Study, should just go with the Irish !

I'm going on Saturday and hoping the weather picks up. It's cold and wet in Liverpool today.
Just been looking at pictures in the Daily Mail and I’m thinking most of them must be freezing. I’d be dressed in trousers and a coat and probably a hat. Have a good day on Saturday. I went when Party Politics won that was a very long time ago.

Pied Piper out of the National which I’m quite relieved about after the horrid fall he had earlier this year. They said he wasn’t quite right last night so hope he’s okay.

Gosh that was horrid but said he’s cantered off. Edited that they’ve shown his groom leading him in. I was late to the Protektorat fan club but isn’t he amazing. I just looked and he’s never fallen. Had an unseated rider in his second race but what an amazing record and he just pops along so happily. He’s a smiley horse.

The armchair jockeys are out in force today. And they ALL hate Nico de Boinvile (with a side order of vitriol for the Skeltons). It's astonishing (although not surprising depressingly) that with so many jockeys tragically taking their own lives this year people don't stop to think before posting.

Correction Jango Baie was a belter of a winner for the home team. Pleased that Nico and Nicky pulled back the Lulamba disappointment

Loved the information from Barton Snow's breeder - aged 94 and he also bred Barton Bank. He said that he hopes to come back to Aintree next year with Barton Snow in the National!

I like it when a smaller yard wins and glad that all the Foxhunters runners came back safely.

Hated that he who sits on dead horses won 2 races yesterday.

That dance tent thing looks like my idea of hell. And those crowds outside!

While ive been to the races a few times, id never fancy the big meetings far too many crowds and a better view on tv

I had a very enjoyable day at Taunton yesterday. There was me and about 30 other people there. Super!

That's my idea of a nice day out. Used to go the Goodwood evening meetings as they had the perfect attendence numbers. That was until they added DJ nights straight after and were ruined for ever.

I do see it’s not very sustainable for the racecourses.
Newton Abbot last week had 8500. The atmosphere was great but if you needed a drink or a pee you were done for.
