Aintree......

Denman was never happy, he didn't look like he wanted to be at the races today. He doesn't like Aintree anyway and never looked like he would win, so Ruby went quite easy on him I think. He'll be back! Excellent win by Nacarat, and Big Bucks - just wow.

Michaela they went no sort of pace Denman on and off bridle, never looked happy.

Paul Nicholls has quoted Ruby as saying he never liked the track and will not run him at Aintree again.

He had a hard race in the Gold Cup only 3wks ago cant help thinking because he gives his all and given his age needs longer to recover between races.

Must go Foxhunters just about to start.

Had no idea Denman was running today – bloody hell you’d think they could have given him a bit more a of rest after the GC!!! Has he not given them enough the season? Grrr!

Could only listen to commentary (at work) and hate to say it but I think Denman should be retired now. I would hate to see him continue and pick up placings whereas he has been such a class horse he owes no one anything and should be allowed to go out at the top.

Well done Willie TD

I agree. He should be allowed to enjoy a happy retirement now.

I can’t get over how annoyed I am that they have run Denman again!! I’ve just done a bit of reading up about him (on wiki!) and doesn’t look like they’ve ever run him after the GC before – why start now it’s getting old??? Surely if he was ever going to run at both meetings it would have been when he was younger.

If the horse hadn't been right he wouldn't have run but I do agree that retirement should beckon; I think to be fair to him, he seems to have lost his heart for it though I expect we'll see him doing the hunter chase circuit before long.

This is what annoys me. He ran a cracker at Cheltenham and now he’s had a bad race (because he’s probably not over GC), people are saying he’s past it and should be retired! I’m sure he wasn’t “not right” but it is pretty bad form to run him so soon after the GC IMO.

You gotta love Wiki  :D Denman has run after Cheltenham for the past 2 seasons...at Punchestown last year where I recall he was rather unimpressive and finished 4th and in 2009 he ran at Aintree and fell :( That in itself says his season should probably end after the GC.

Oh right ok, silly wiki! Pretty obvious he shouldn't run again then really! Suppose they must have their reasons.

i don't think he should retire. I think he's still got it, so why not keep going? just really really hope nothing bad ever happens to him!!!
