Just a quick one to say, after our experience with one tady, PLEASE take notice of any fund raising oppurtunities that occur for this fantastic organisation, I believe they are almost entirely charity funded, and they gave the most amazing service whish is vital if we want to carry on riding in remote/unaccessable places! I know I previously hadnt given them much thought, so PLEASE even if it is just taking part in a sponsered ride, give them a bit of thought and where possible raise some money for them

Yep, we always support them, have had them out a fair few times, as we are up a moor,and the school is hard to get to.

they really are an invaluable service
 
my local one is the police helicopter - has two different uses.

Get quite used to seeing it close up as it hovers over my lecture halls preparing to land at A&E. Only A&E in my local area with a heli-pad type thing and the government want to close it

We support them being as they saved my brothers best friends life! After a car crash and his car flipped over! they landed in the road and took him off to hospital, he came out with a punctured lung and had a cage over his pelvis to hold it in place!
 
Have supported our local Kent Air Ambulance for quite a few years, fund raising at work.

It's an invaluable thing and well worth every penny.
 
I did my first ever triathlon at the beginning of July to raise funds for our local air ambulance. Although I hope I never need it, I am always grateful that it exists.
 
Our area of our hunt supporters have donated a fair bit (over £100) from one of our autumn rides. As you say, it's a very worthwhile cause, all funded by charity (which I personally think should be government funded anyway as should the lifeboats!)
Did you know it costs at least £1000 for each call out so our donation was quickly swallowed up!
We're also in an awkward corner (lucky in one way thought!) that we are covered by three different areas, the North Wales, the Shropshire and the Merseyside and it all depends who's nearest at the time who attends!
 
There is a fundraising sponsored ride I am doing on 28th October for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, Good cause...
 
Good point about the lifeboats, I agree both should be funded by the government but fat chance of that.

It is reassuring to know that such services are there should I be unfortunate enough to need them and I have and will continue to support such fund raising. Everyone I know who has had experience with the Air Ambulance cannot praise them enough. A very worthwhile cause.

HERTFORDSHIRE is one of only 2 counties in the UK (the other being Bedfordshire) which does not have air amb cover.

My OH was so cross about this that he got off his butt and did something.

Herts has now joined with Essex and we are in the process of raising 250 thousand to get our own machine,

We have just about raised the 50k that will allow the Essex machine to be used in Herts when necessary.

If the service was government funded it would be very difficult to justify the expense when there are so many people waiting for ops.

However it is disgusting that they get no lottery funding either.

In Essex the helo and pilot are funded by the charity and the paramedics by the NHS. Move is afoot to put a doctor on board too. (still discussing who will pay for this)

OH is a trustee of the Herts and Essex air amb and we both go to events to raise awareness.

Thanks to the people of herts for what you have raised so far, spread the word and we will get our own machine soon.

Beds is doing a similar scheme with Anglian.
 
I have ' done my bit ' , buying stuff on Ebay for the Wales Air Ambulance & donated things for re-sale to the East Anglian one .

It's a shame they have to raise funds , but thank God for them !

I will continue to support any air ambulance scheme .
 
Me and my OH work for East Midlands Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance (EMAS does use the Air Ambulance quiet a lot) does rely on a lot of public donations. So keep up the good support!!
 
Living in the County where the FIRST ever Air Ambulace started in this country, I have always supported them. They do an absolutely fantastic job. Some Air Ambulances get partially funded by Government, but many like Cornwall, are funded entirely by Public Donations.
