I'm hoping to get an Air Jacket for Christmas - all my family are clubbing together so was wondering which is the best one? I'm not bothered about colours or anything, just want the safest most reliable one. Any recommendations.

I love my hit-air. You don't even know you have it on. Also it doesn't implode on you and wind you like the others ;)
The deliver super fast and the people I spoke to were genuinely lovely there :)

I bought Helite from Treehouse. Managed to haggle and have used it in anger once and didn't feel the fall at all! Think it is same as older Point 2 but better for my budget.

I have the Point 2 Pro Air 2 as well and really like it. Had a fairly spectacular fall team chasing a few weeks ago - catapulted out of the side door over a fairly hefty drop fence - and it certainly did the job. Having fallen from quite a height and at quite a speed, no soreness, bruising, aches or pains at all and certainly wasn't winded. Must have fallen on my side (jacket is now a bit muddy!) and my upper thigh/hip was quite bruised but upper body absolutely fine

To me they're an investment - best part of £450 not cheap but if I do 6 team chases autumn, then 6 again spring each year, it soon amounts to very little per outing .... that's how I justify it anyway ;) I do feel safer, more protected in it as well so all in all, glad I bought it

I have the Helite, it's fab. I fell off in it the other day and it worked really well.

I chose the Helite as it's the fastest to inflate and has a screw-fitting gas canister, which I preferred over the bayonet fitting.

I've had both fitted and both exploded on me.

The point 2 - baggy, cumbersome and didn't half get in my way. I didn't like how bulky it was, also wasn't keen on how loose it had to be, although when he pulled that cord, even on the baggiest it winded the hell out of me. It was that loud it made me jump. Another factor which put me off point 2s - they're extortionately priced. Also be careful, the bayonet fitting for the canister isn't very secure.

The helite has the identical fitting to the P2, but has a screw fitting for the canister, so IMO better than the P2.

I went for a hit air personally, still comes in a range of colours (but I appreciate it's more limited than the P2), I have navy to match my show jacket. It sits flush with the skin and it explodes outwards unlike the P2 which implodes (hence the design to be extremely baggy). I like how neat it is, it has a better coccyx and neck protection than the P2, but it all folds away behind poppers (which undo on explosion). I've worn it a lot now and never once felt restricted in it, I love it. It gives me the move ability to stick with my horse, yet the protection that if I fell, my body is cushioned. I feel safer hacking out in the hit air compared to the thought of the P2 - I didn't fancy getting hooked on a low branch! I've fallen off twice in it now, first time I bounced as I hit the floor and didn't ache one little bit the day after, second time I didn't fare so well, but it was nothing the jacket did, I still walked away with only an arm injury to complain about! :p

I have the hit air. Have fallen off on hard standing and didn't feel a thing. I have even schooled my youngster in the manage with it on and hardly noticed it was there. They are great!

I've never felt winded by my P2, and I like the baggier fit because you don't have to adjust it to wear different amounts of clothes under it and it's cool to have the air able to blow through it in summer.

i have a hi viz hit air. light as a feather dont know your wearing it. went for hi viz beacause i wear a hiviz anyway so cut down on a layer.
not used yet, touch wood!
also have a hit air motorbike vest. again hi viz. same air bag as my main one buta different shell. it looks a bit like a bullet proof vest but made of mesh. it has padding in the back and front extra to the air bag, that i am sure will help in a fall.
it has not gone off yet.

went for hit air as the air bag seemed to me to cover the most of your body, around the neck and down your bum.

I would always recommend helite or point 2 for better neck protection. I recently bought a point 2 and am very happy with it. I have visited the point two stand at numerous shows and was eventually won over by the sales pitch. Although it is a great product i was disheartened to find out from my boyfriend today who visited motorcycle live, that they are selling motorbike air jackets that my boyfriend said looked exactly the same as my one for trade price but are charging horse customers like me more?!? Very strange behaviour for a company that used the horse market as a stepping stone. would have thought they would treat their equestrian customers better! And also i do wonder what the smaller shops like the one i used to work at that have to pay alot of money upfront for stock only to have customers go to a motorbike show and get it cheaper. I must admit i am not impressed sorry for the rant but i saved for ages to afford it and feel cheated!
