After a fall on the hard ground last week, I think I need to re-think my Air Jacket situation.. (whilst noting I wasn't actually wearing it!). The ride was meant to be a dressage lesson, but we had an unexpected gallop up the next field with only 1 stirrup

I have an old Two Point jacket, that's about 11 years old. I've only worn it a few times (and never when I've fallen off!), so whilst I realise I can get it serviced and checked over, and even upgraded to a new model, I basically don't like the front fastenings....

I'm rotund/apple shape and find the style of the front of the jacket a worry abut scraping the saddle when I get off (probably hindered with a very sore back, when I shouldn't have gotten on! )

Are there newer styles available with the air jacket part of say a gillet or jacket, with zip fastenings? Does anyone know these makes? I want it for general safety rather than anything adventurous like XC/jumping.

I'm at Burghley to the end of this week, and thought I'd shop/get fitted for something newer/more upto date

Any advice or guidance appreciated

Point Two did make a jacket with arms but I can't find a link so it may be discontinued. I only know because I asked at Equestrian World in Henley last week what they had (I wanted the vest type). If you wanted one, they still have an adult large size, if that would fit....

Helite make one that zips into different outer options. Horse Riding Jackets - Safety Vests - Equestrian Protection - HELITE (heliteuk.co.uk)
I have the gilet. It looks surprisingly normal, if a little bulky when on. I have it on in this photo if it helps. I too am apple shaped with a bit of a tum and it adds a bit to that but not loads.
The only issue I've had with it was catching the canister on my saddle once as I dismounted which then pushed it up my body and it whacked me on the lip. That's once out of hundreds of wears though.
I think Treehouse Sporting Colours offer more choice of colours of the outers. There's only Black/Grey on Helite's website.

I have the Helite gilet too. It zips up and is very comfy.
I do sometimes catch the canister when getting off, but they’re all in the same place so would have this whatever model I had.

Hit Air have a new style out which is designed to go over show jackets. It has the same clips at the front though. Surprisingly it is not for sale on their website (that I could see) but is advertised in this month’s BHS magazine. I saw one at Badminton this year.

I’m a fan of HitAir and I’m apple shaped too!
