Thanks. I've stuck a few links below with the small amount of information that seems to be known about it - there are a number of "check my area" maps available online but I think the Vets4Pets one seems to be the best.
I have read all these links but if anyone has good reason to believe they are inaccurate or not useful just say and I can edit the post to remove them.
I don't suppose any of the forum's vets can share anything useful about this disease? It may be rare but it's pretty frightening not knowing what to do to prevent it (if indeed there is anything). I'd better go off and search the forum to see what's come up since 2012.
This started quite near me. I think the important thing to remember is that it affects a tiny proportion of dogs. When you consider how many dogs are walked in the New Forest every day, for instance, you really would be unlucky to succumb.
Ive generally avoided wooded areas and also areas where there are a lot of dogs walked. I did hear a rumour that they are looking at puddles where a lot of dogs congregate, such as car parks.
