My sister had a lesson with him through Pony Club. She really enjoyed it.
I think he pushed them quite a lot, but and the same time didn't move beyond what they were capable of. He gave her some very good advice about dealing with the very green horse that she was riding at the time.
I trained with him through the BSJA when I was a kid, (a long time ago!) what he taught me then, still stands me in good stead now. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him!
I think he is superb, have had a lesson with him quite recently, at the Bleekmans in Devon
I would love him to give T some lessons as he's supposed to be fantastic with kids/ponies, but I find him quite difficult to track down - no website and doesn't return texts/calls very reliably
Excellent! But yes he is hard to track down, as he's based in both Essex and Manchester.
As someone else said, he will push you to where he thinks you're capable. He'll also hop on your horse to get a feel for it so that he knows what he's working with.
He was trained by the master himself - what more do you expect
Ann-jen, does he still come your way? We are in hexham but nobody much comes this way regularly so we are thinking of travelling down... where do/ did you have lessons with him? Thanks.
I had BS area training with him and learnt absolutely f all. He was a nice guy though and got on someones horse which proceeded to pee off with him but he did get her going. i think possibly the problem was that my horse was absolutely perfect on that day but because of the group he couldn't push me so he basically said very little to me other than good. Have heard lots of positive about him though and would probably give him a go for an individual session if he was local.
He taught me in a group lesson years ago at pont club camp when i had a real sod of a pony who i had nearly given up on and he helped me so much , i would reccomend him all day long
I did area 40 training with him at Brook Farm. I thought he was good, he certainly said a lot of things which made sense. I had a slight reservation though in that he got rather defensive when I questioned him. He said "ABC is happening. Do Y" I said "in ABC circumstances, I do X. Why is Y better than X?" He said I didn't need his help if I was going to do X. He never did explain why Y was better than X.....
