I've been thinking for a while of getting a dressage saddle for my mare, and have been having a shot of a few that others at the yard have, albiet on their horses as several sizes too big for my rather slight 15hh tb.

Saddler was out today fitting a saddle for my sister's pony so took the opportunity to have a chat with him. He said whilst the saddle I had in mind was a lovely saddle in it's own right, he was positive it wouldn't fit my girl very well, nor suit me as a rider. He instead recommended I consider the albion K2 as an alternative.

I don't know anyone with this style of saddle, so I was wondering what sort of feedback (good and bad) people have got on these saddles?

Thanks!!

I have a K2 event which was originaly brought for my 15.2 TB, I since have brought an ISH and a K2 dressage ! I love them both ! The are very comfortable and are not to bulky, even though the dressage is brand new its still not to stiff like some new saddles can be.

I have an Albion K2 GP and an Albion Legend (now the K2) dressage saddle and they are fantastic saddles. Hold their value quite well secondhand as there is always a demand for them. Sold an Albion K2 jump saddle on Ebay within 24 hrs!

Yep, agree - got one for my horsey and its really nice and comfy - puts you in a good dressage position without being too extreme. When I bought it saddler recommended it for a 'first time' dressage saddle as its not as cut back as some. I have a different dressage saddle for my other horse (can't remember the make) but its much stiffer leather and makes the inside of my thighs ache as the flap is cut further back (hope this makes sense)!

I have 2 x Albion K2's for sale, one GP 17.5" Med and K2 dressage 17.5" med, both black and in very good condition. Is eBay the best place for them?

Being an ebay queen myself (!) make sure you put a reserve on them if you decide to go that route or you might end up selling them for far too little! Try a notice in your local feed and tack shops though, but be careful when people want to try them for fitting as I had a saddle that came back with a broken tree. The person who took it returned it saying that the tree was broken (surely they would have noticed this before taking it, I know who they are and they would, believe me!) and the tack shop just shrugged it off. Not happy!
