It cannot possibly just be me.

I was at a concert last night, ate a huge dinner of lasagne, walked twenty minutes there, had three pints of Becks (4%) over the course of two and a bit hours. Had a twenty minute walk home and went to bed at about 11pm I reckon and drank about 750ml of water through the night. Woke up this morning absolutely fine - no hangover, no sickness etc - made bacon & cheese sarnies, had a brew, waved off boyfriend and headed up to the stables.

I have obviously parted company with my steed today as I've got the sorest arse ever and patch of dust on my jods and am SO gonna have a bruise. This does not concern me.

What concerns me is - I have no memory of it. More to the point, I have no memory of actually going up there nor coming home and yet I can remember all of last night and pretty much most of this morning (i.e. making breakfast, waving boyfriend off) so it can't really be alcohol related can it. . ?

Is it just me that this happens to or do you think it's more of a concussion memory loss than anything to do with my evening out? :(

A friend of mine fell off, and couldn't remember anything about it, or even what she was doing at the yard, I doubt your memory is anything alcohol related more like late shock/slight concussion!
Lots of hot sugary tea :D -any excuse :p

It sounds like a head injury. As you can't actually remember falling off and have memory loss, I would, in your shoes, do two things. 1. Go and get checked out at A&E - it is possible you lost consciousness and head injuries are not to be messed with, and 2. Cut the straps off your hat and buy a new one.

If you were my friend at the yard and you related this story to me, I would insist on driving you to A&E now.

Agree with the other posters. Even if you didn't hit your head when you fell, the head whipping forward and back can cause concussion and in turn memory loss.

Maybe a check over at A&E may be in order.

Just to add, I'm not prone to dramatics over injuries either - I managed to fracture my jaw and not be seen by anyone for weeks until I yawned at the doctors when I was there for something routine and he packed me off to the dental hospital having seen how oddly my mouth was moving!

Personally I think nothing to do with the night before - sounds like concussion to me, sorry :(

Definately worth getting a check over x

Please go to A&E and get checked out.
Several months after a fall, I collapsed at work, an ambulance was sent for as my colleagues thought I was having a heart attack. The actual diagnosis was a trapped nerve in my neck. I needed physio which actually found that whiplash-type injuries had affected almost all my body.
I'm sure that your memory loss is not caused by yesterday's alcohol.

yep, agree it sounds like concusion, not alcohol related.

when i came of last year and hit my head, i was knocked out for a few minutes.
i could remember my horse bolting and coming off, but couldn't and still can't remember leaving work, driving to the yard, tacking up and heading out on the hack. that about 2hrs of my life that i have no memory of.

might be worth getting checked out, but if mild concussion its a case of having someone check on you every now and again, and if your sick definately go to hospital.

Thanks for all your concerns :)

Turns out i'm ok for anything serious and yes the hospital thinks I lost conciousness as I cannot remember going up to the stables, being there or coming home. Brains are funny things! Annoyingly though I feel like a screwed up paper bag! My derriere toward the top at my lower back is absolutely killing me and I've discovered a sort of roadrash injury in that vicinity that scream when its under the shower and curse if its gets soap on its precious scuffed self! Just come out and bruise, all of you achey areas!! :D

My age is creeping closer and closer to the 30yrs mark and i'm discovering I don't bounce like I used to!

X
