Hi all,

Just saw that today's special buys in Aldi include some of the horsey bits and pieces they sometimes do. This includes:

- Jods at £12.99
- Long riding socks at £4.99 per pack
- Boots at £14.99
- Polo shirts at £5.99
- Yard boots at £12.99

Thought I'd mention it in case anyone could use a few new items and are on a budget. :)

Have a nice Sunday.

Shhh! Don't tell everyone, I'm just off for the pick of the bargains - will report back.

Ps. Aldi Jaffa Cakes are excellent!

Hehe, sorry. Get in there quick!

The jaffa cakes are good, yes! A lot of their chocolate is good too... like the Choceur milk chocolate with hazelnuts. Ohhhh yes.

My horses are rather delighted with the mint imperials from there too.

In the shop :)

I second checking them carefully. I found some half chaps in there once, but the zip was on the inside of the leg!

Back from my Aldi trip with two pairs of joddy boots, a pair of yard boots that will do as snow boots for our ski hol, and a lot of Jaffa cakes! Ciabatta rolls excellent too.

There were no socks at all at our branch, but they did have the jods, which I have bought previously, but those were quite thin like leggings.

Off to open the Jaffa cakes...Nom, nom, nom.

I got a a couple of polo shirts which I'm impressed with for the price, a pair of jodhs (seem pretty thin but they'll be good for warmer weather) and a pack of socks. The socks are really nice, wish I'd bought more.

I bought some jods last year and they're the best ones I've ever had - and I've had Pikeur and Anky ones in the past (admittedly the Anky were gorgeous). The Aldi ones have washed really well and still look like new, so I've been and bought two pairs of the brown ones today. One thing I would advise is go a size down if you're inbetween sizes - they look normal sizes until you put them on and they are massive sizing - nothing a hot wash won't sort out though!

If you think the Jaffa Cakes are good, you should try their lemon cheesecakey thing from the freezer - heaven on earth.

Will have to investigate the freezers next time. Their Pimms equivalent called Austins is only a fiver and indistinguishable from the real thing by the time you've added lemonade and all the fruit.

Totally agree about the Austins in place of Pimms! We always have Austins and nobody can tell.

I posted this topic but didn't think I'd have a chance to pop into Aldi's myself... well, I hit jackpot because my mum went in and bought me a pair of jods, socks, jod boots and yard boots. Bonus! Thanks mum! Think jods might come up a bit big but will investigate later!

I would also point out that the chocolate chip brioche they sell in there is upsettingly delicious.

I bought 3 packs of socks to replace the worn out ones I've been wearing all year!

I'm a size 16 tall and the jods in size large fit ok but I need a belt with them as they do fall down. Mind you, this year they aren't the pull on ones like they were last year so don't know if that makes a difference.

Ooooh my dad is obsessed with aldi bargains! Wonder if I can convince him to buy me horse things, he has got all manner of crazy bargains in there!

I saw the step/grooming box in there a month or two ago marketed as a houskeeper's box and step. It looked just like one my sister bought at Belton. Worth looking for if they still have them.

While we are recommending other Aldi products, can I vouch for the pork schnitzels?! Haven't seen those at Tesco!

We went to get vegatables after being at the yard this morning and mum came out with some jod bots and me some socks! ... And American pretzels of course!

The socks loom really Comfy, didn't get the jods as nothing is never long enough!

I've had a look online and tbh i'm not that impressed. Decathlon near me has cheaper products and better choice (Not keen on the brown those jods come in!). The only thing i might be tempted by if i were passing would be the polo shirts, I wouldn't make a special trip though.

The yard boots aren't bad, But Robinsons do them for a fiver more - I wouldn't save anything there because it would cost that fiver in petrol or the bus to get to my nearest store.
