As some of you may remember, when we got Aled in September, he was awful with the horses. He would strain at the end of his lead growling and barking if they so much as looked at him. Some very patient horses, and lots of work with him, this was this weekend.

So proud of my horses, and Aled.

Thank you. It wasn't the be all and end all if he didn't settle around them, but could be so much better for him if he did. He was so bad with mine in the beginning, I just wanted him comfortable enough that if we were walking in the woods (always on lead) and saw horses, he wouldn't overreact and upset other riders.

My fields are also very secure where I can safely let him off lead and not worry about the road, and with him more relaxed, we can play and have fun whilst I'm poo picking etc.

Oh well done! Really worth sorting that so he can be with you when you are doing the horses. Good point too that you didn't want him sounding off if he met horses when you were out. Life altogether easier and he must be happier without the anxiety.

After Jon's uncle died, he did go and live with some friends of the family. We don't know exactly why they decided not to keep him, but we are so happy he came to us. He is such a loving friendly boy. His guarding issues were a big deal (I have the scar to prove it), but he has settled so well now. I guess sub-consciously we don't leave temptation in his way now, but as the stuff he used to steal was so random, it was difficult to know what wasn't safe to be left within reach.
