I think I may have posted this before, but does anyone know what happened to Alex Hua Tian? He was such a big noise at Beijing by becoming the first Chinese rider and the youngest eventer to compete at the Olympics, and then seemed to be doing well.

But then....nothing. Can't find anything on his website or twitter since 2012....?

Any ideas?

I think he's just had bad luck with his top rides, he lost Magenta and I think Irish Fiddle might have been off work too among others, so I think he is just bringing on the younger rides...

Shame that more owners don't come along and support him, I think Alex is great!

He was giving a large grant by the Chinese before Bejing to buy top horses etc to get the Olympics, after that he had to sell his top horses etc to carry on his eventing business, and bought a load of young horses. He hasn't been doing nothing though...

I think he will be back at 4* this year or next (2015!) :)

That's not strictly true, it was a private business venture and he didnt sell anything, a couple went lame and retired out to the field, a couple he crried on competing but they have also retired now- he bought older, experienced horses who didnt necessarily have much career left in them.
He now has a string of lovely young horses working their way up

What TM said. They wanted him to get to Beijing with horses that would do the job at that level on that day - by definition those horses were not going to last for years but gave him valuable experience.

I think they've just moved to a very nice new yard and he's certainly around riding younger horses.
