I am still feeding Alfalpha, but I am wondering wether to change to herbichop, just for the summer, as it is nearly half the price.

Another chop that has been recommended is show mix. Anyone got any experience of this feed, and do I feed it as a chop? or as a pure feed?

I want to save pennies, but not jepordise the ongoing work I am doing with his weight gain.

Update, he is getting a lovely fat bum, but top line is being really stuborn, so any suggestion on that gratefully recived

I would stick with the alfalfa. It provides protein that in conjunction with correct training will build the topline. If he starts getting too fat then reduce the amount you are feeding.

Many other chaffs are covered in mollasses so IMO they are not as good for the horse.
