Ali Al Ameria Ebony and me

I wish I lived near to you Tiny Pony. You seem to know the things I would like to learn and know the people I would like to know. Just out of curiosity, do you know or have you ever met Mark Rashid?

I've been to quite a few Mark Rashid clinics, started looking at what he does some time ago, probably 2001/2. He's a very interesting person to watch and listen to, unfortunately I don't know when you'll get a chance to see him again in this country. When I saw him in the New Forest this year he wouldn't be drawn on when he'd be back.
You need to skive off at the end of this week, pack a tent and come down to Kent. There's a bit of a gathering of like-minded people happening. I can't wait! (Even though the pony I've been practising with is staying at home and I'm dragging my Arab out the field who has been having a very easy summer...).
 
What a fantastic result - you must be so pleased EA! Great that you can have the confidence now to really enjoy Ebony. Lovely post.

Archiepoo, don't worry about Ali - I'm sure he's dealt with worse. Australian Brumbies for one - he told me some of them were worse than lions, that they'd attack yet he lived to tell the tale and tamed the ones he worked with. You know where I am if you want me to set something up for you.

Just to say as well to Tinypony that I think your posts on this thread are fantastic - a really honest review of what Ali does, which hopefully a lot of people are finding really useful to read. Just to say as well that he doesn't always hobble the horses - he didn't need to with mine :)

It seemed to me that Ali deals with the horse and situation in front of him, so he wouldn't always feel the need to hobble. In my view anyway, Ebony had a bit of a tendency to tune out if she thought something was worrying, and that can be quite a problem. I think once Ali had met the lovely Ebonyallen he had a clear idea in his head of what he wanted to do. He wanted them to be able to get out and about and be safe.
 
Thank you all for your very kind words, and for TP for her very good account of what happened I was a bit stunned by it all really. Its my head that needs sorting now that Ebony is fixed just her stupid mother to get sorted. I will take her out soon, just need a bit more time to get my head around this. She was a changed horse when my friend took her so must kick myself up the bum and get out there. The school work is still coming along well, have not cantered so much in years lol. I have a lesson tomorrow so it will be interesting to see what my instructor thinks of how we are both doing. Keep waiting for the bubble to burst but as yet its fine and will be fine, just me having a wobble. Thanks again
 
You'll get there, don't worry!
I think you should start your lesson by showing your instructor what you've been taught. They need to understand where you and Ebony are coming from now, and will then be able to support you.
