All brands of wood pellots are the same quality?

Hi, I'm new here so hope I'm posting in the right place!
Ok, I've decided to change from duo bed to wood pellots mainly because of price though most of the reviews I've read say they are economical and also very quick and easy to clean out. I put an order in to liverpool wood pellots then saw a demonstration on you tube from someone using Five star horse bedding. LWP say to use 20-25 litres water per 6-8 bags though the other company takes much more water so therefore i believe their pellots are far more efficient and bags swell more making more bedding per bag. I spoke to LWP to cancel and the guy there said all pellots are exactly the same but in different bags the other company totally disagrees however they are over £100 dearer. Are all pellots the same? Does anyone have experience of different brands I sort of think this guy at LWP is a bit of a fake really, but could be wrong : - /
 
Five Star have two kinds of wood pellet, so no, not all pellets are the same. It sounds like you were looking at their premium pellets going by the price, because their economy pellet (which is repackaged Verdo) is a similar price to LWP, but darker in colour, and similar in performance.
 
I've been using wood pellets for 3 years now and love them.

BUT, I used to use LWP until major problems with quality, delivery and their attitude to customer complaints.

I assure you that not all LWP are the same or behave in the same way, despite what he says!! May it be poor quality control on their part or he may just put what he's got in whatever bags he's got to satisfy orders? I don't know!!! I do know that I won't be using them again.

Whatever, I now go with Blue Ribbon Horse bedding and find them great to deal with in all respects.

I've also been looking at Five Star following on from that thread that was here recently out of interest. She had some really interesting results to her 'trials.'
 
Yes it is the premium ones, can't believe I didn't think of that about the wo types! When I tried to cancel this guy at LWP was really hassling me he phoned 3 times after I spoke to him to cancel I just ignored the calls. I'm paying £417 for 1000kg about £140 more than LWP but if they are more absorbent then it's worth it as I'll use far less. Plus these ones go through more processes to sterilise them and reduce the dust as much as possible. They are made for horses and not fuel. I can't believe this guy is rubbishing this company making out they are lying and selling the same stuff as him!!

Yes I found the guy to be very antagonistic on the phone. When he was trying to convince me pellots are all the same he said, "if you want me to put them in a different bag with a posh name on it i will. i can also charge the same as the other company Plus 20 percent extra instead of 5 for fuel supplement which I charged you!!!
I've been shown a link which shows a comparison for pellots by someone apparently not linked with five star horse bedding LWP was used in the comparison.

That video was made by SGeventing, and if you look through some posts on here, you will find that they are actually five star bedding.

I would be wary of those who are promoting products who are sponsored by them, they may be receiving discount or get the product for free.

I noticed in the video that you didn't use all the same bowls for each product.

I think what puts most people off is the initial cost of five star bedding which I definitely couldn't afford in a oner.

I know there are plenty of people who uses brands like LWP who don't use 2 bags a week and are more than happy with their beds. I am skeptical when people start going on about these miracle new products. I don't mean to have a go SG eventing but I do see it as advertising.
 
Here in France we have researched various wood pellets, including getting supplies and samples from the Uk. The main problem today is that few manufacturers are using recognised production standards, even the well known brands.

The German DIN and DIN+ standards which set limits for levels of humity, dust, size etc are starting to be used across Europe. We have found that anything with a DIN+ standard is a pretty good indication of high performance with low humidity and low dust content.

BTW as a comparison here a tonne of DIN+ is around £220 (collected from depot) at todays exchange rates.

You are advertising SGeventing.Whether or.not they offer a trial is irrelevant, I know myself I couldn't afford to fork out that amount in one go which I'm sure many people couldnt do either.
 
Hi, I've just placed an order with corley bio-wood pellets as they seemed the cheapest around £270 for 100 x 10kg bags. I thought i'd give them a try as I've previously been using white horse bedding and their price for 100 x 10kg bags is around £340 so a huge saving.

I read customers reviews and they all seemed positive. Will post on here if anyones interested as to what I think to them.

Just to clarify I had no issues with white horse bedding, very good and easy to use.
