I have a good, varied job and a lovely boyfriend ... but I feel just like I did when I was ten, all I want to do is spend time at the stables, talk about horses, look at pictures of horses, read about horses, and so on and so on!

I am possibly a lot more pony mad now then when I was in my teenage years.

Will I ever grow up? I actually especially like riding out with the pony club kids at the yard because we all seem to be on the same wavelength

starting to think I might have to quit the job and go and be a WP to get this out of my system. oh dear, oh dear.

little bit obsessive really doesn't cover it though does it?

this is full blown madness I think!

i actually dream about ponies, I wish I could go back to pony club camp, I will watch international velvet for the millionth time, and re-read my pony books....

I am pony mad too so you're not alone. I spent so long at the yard today that OH was in a sulk when I got back. I just didn't realise the time becuase I was having fun, hacking out, grooming and just generally messing about. When I got home I started to read Horse magazine just in case I'd not had enough "horsey time"!

Good on you! Go for it, yard managers are always on the lookout for people with dedication and enthusiasm like yours! Just get used to not being able to afford anything other than your ponies!

I also enjoy hanging out with 15 year old girls at the yard cos we can talk obsesively about ponies... it is shameful at 28 yrs LOL.

I left my office job to become a riding instructor, best decision I ever made apart from the fact that I can no longer afford a pony of my own to pamper and spoil - I have to make do with the project ponies my boss buys.

My mates and I are in our 40's and still the same, OH's dont like it much at all, my sis is 60 and still the same, OH cleared off and left her to it, Mother in her 80's and equally horse obsessed, doesnt ride but still buys the odd one if she likes its face!

Oh your post made me smile! I know just what you mean - sometimes I think I have not grown up at all!

A friend told me recently that my choice of horse showed I was 'an exhibitionist with an emotional age of about 12'! She has a point - even though I really should be old enough to know better, I went out and bought the 'beautiful fiery chestnut Arab stallion' that I longed for when I was, er, 12!

Actually that question deserves its own thread I think - what does your choice of horse say about you? I'll go and start it...

your not alone, I am completely obsessed. I spend about 5 hrs per day at the stables looking after ONE horse! Horses are all I think about, every waking moment my mind is occupied by them. Its got to the point where just one bad moment with my horse will affect the rest of my day/week/year and one good moment and im floating around on cloud nine.

All my moods are down to my horse. Its really bad! I dont know how my poor OH puts up with me, he's so amazing and I love him so much but all I can think about is horses! He'll be worrying about big business deals and all I can talk about is how my horse wouldnt stand for the farrier or how amazing she was on our hack.

I dream about getting another horse and scour the internet for hours dreaming what it will be like. My ultimate aim in life is to wake up in the morning and see my horses grazing in my fields. I only want kids so I can get them ponies. Its so bad!!

Im working very hard on giving myself a reality check at the moment lol!

Thank God I am not the only one - well apart from my horsey friends. It is all we think & talk about.

In fact when I recently split up with my OH he turned around to me and said "Well, the horse won then" Errr... he chose to work in Dubai for 2 1/2 years which is why I got into it.

Right - need to go ride now - I've been working from home all day and need a fix!
