Or not, To everyone who told me that a rescue/shelter dog would be nasty and attack us all.

I would like to show you these photos of the dog and my 13yr old sister and I taken today. (faces are blurred out)

My mum is one of these ''oh dont go to rescue, the dogs will end up attacking you''.

Then she went an brought a pup from a lady whose dog had given birth 6 months earlier and 6 months before that... ''but she is a pedigreeeeeee''

Your dog looks lovely, hope you give her a fab life.

What eejit would tar ALL rescues with the same brush? Oh right the same eejits who think EVERY SINGLE GSD will at some point in its life maul someone jeez.

He looks like a lovely little chappie! :)

What a gorgeous chap - likes a game of footie too by that smile on his face!

Well done you for giving him a chance despite some peoples opinions :)

They didn't get round to it, It was a condition that he needed doing once I got him. I had to pay £120 pounds for him and now I have to pay another £95 for him to be castrated. Oh well, at least he is happy and healthy

Bless him, he looks sweet. We have always had rescue dogs in our family and i would always go to a rescue to get a dog. Any dog can be aggressive if not treated properly and certainly some rescue dogs may have issues as a result of their previous owners' treatment but i don't think the majority of dogs are naturally aggressive, it is normally as a result of poor handling.

Absolute tripe. Of course you have to be careful you haven't picked up someone elses bad treatment, but dogs are individuals and should be treated as such. Lots of them lavish their new owners with so much love - you'd swear they KNEW the situation they were in and were eternally grateful!
Your dog looks happy and obviously well loved, glad you found each other.

Henry is a real 'talker' - when he's meeting new people or people he knows but really likes, or when he's about to be fed or walked, he will 'roorooowoooorooowooooorooooowoooooo' at people, in a variety of pitches from deep to choirboy high. When I first got him, my mum kept telling me I should make him stop as people would think he was growling at them and assume he was vicious because he's a rescue:(

Now she is often in there before me with 'He's not growling - he's just saying hello!':)

They do rehome some dogs with behavioural problems

They do indeed! Also often behaviour in a kennel is very different to that in a home- trust me Dex taught me that!!!

He will defo make me a better handler though, same as a slightly naughty pony makes kids a better rider!

Your rescue looks a little darling.

Ive had 4 rescue Dobes, 1 age 5yr intact male(Leo) who came to me from a private person who had a marriage breakdown. Really lovely dog not a bad bone in his body except he would run off at a drop of a hat. My 2nd Fred age 18months returned to breeder as he had bitten the owners son and came to me via my farrier. I had him on the understanding if he didnt get on with Leo he could be returned. Leo accepted him and they were great friends. He had loads of behavioral issues due to lack of socialisation but with lots of training became my dog of a lifetime. My current 2 are Diesel & Darcy brother and sister age 18months from Dobermann Welfare who again had no training and socialisation. Darcy has fear agression towards dogs she dosnt know but we are working on it and she is improving. So rescue dogs are brilliant and nearly all my friends dogs are rescues.

Aaah he looks lovely. Our old labx was a rescue, he had hs quirks and we had to manage him carefully. he could be nervous wth strangers, so we had to make sure people just let hm make the first move. he did improve as time went on. Our jrtx rescue, on the other hand, is the friendlest dog you could ever meet. She's as soft as a brush!

HEHE What does Dex do?

Where do I start!!! He ummm is like a massive puppy, with all the puppy related behaviours- mouthing/jumping/running round like a loon- only he is 18-24 months, and weighs 4 stone, and is lab sized- not ideal!!!

He is also VERY dog reactive, and takes offence to certain men

But we are getting there!! Hopefully one day he will grow up LOL

Ive always said rescue dogs are the best, they shower you with so much love as if they are saying thank you for taking them on, ive always had rescue dogs and will always go back for them, i go in and always ask for the dog thats been here the longest.
